Default Damn OPP - New Radar Detector - Detector

Either there are a lot of people out there with radar detectors, or we're paying way too much in taxes. I say we're paying WAY to fecking much tax.

Anyhow, here's a new tidbit of info that totally sucks. Glad I read it before I bought one.

I guess that's how everyone is getting caught nowadays including myself and my friends..

That is one area of law enforcement that I'm surprised, is up to par ?

So much for any upcoming V1 purchases.. oh well.. even more incentive to move down south now..

"New High End Remote Radar Detector Coming With Offensive Laser-A major radar detector maker will be introducing a new remote detector featuring standard or custom dash board mounting. The new remote will also offer front and rear laser transceivers capable of scrambling laser gun speed readings. SML will be field testing the new remote in October."

Is this for drivers or cops? I can't tell. But if it is for us, I'm getting me one . . .

Its for us.

I'm in Austin right now.

I went into a Best Buy here and nearly bought the 8500, but I backed out.

I asked the gomer at the radar counter, he said they haven't sold a single one, because they don't use VG-2 down here. Must be nice.

I'm thinking of calling Escort and Valentine and find out what they know about it.

I'll fill one and all in next week.

Ok finally got some concrete answers.

Both Valentine and Escort plan to have a detector that works on the varriable freq's within a few weeks of deployment. They have products in the works for it now as its not new "news" to them.

Didn't make it clear if it would be an entire new product or an upgrade to say a V1 or 8500.

I'll hold off until those are released. I'd be pissed having just dumped $400 USD and then drop $1800 on speeding ticket and confiscation of the detector.

Bastards.

I was driving up airport road just south of Stayner. Much to my surprise there was a radar trap.

Not only was this a radar trap for speeders, I was shocked to see a pile of radar detectors in a box on the side of the road.

Went about my business and it bugged the hell out of me, so on the way back I pull over to talk to the cop for a second, I asked him about how many accidents on the road this year and how many fatalities (doing a paper on a gravel pit they want to build near me) and then I asked what are all those things in the box. The cop told me to go and have a look. I was shocked, lots of Bel 980's a V1 and 2 Passport 8500's.

Considering I was driving the S, I said "Glad I didn't buy one" he said yeah wait a few months and get the new ones, we're getting all new radar detector detectors by mid next year.

So let this be a warning to everyone still running with a VG2 stealthed unit. They do have the abliity to pinpoint and find you.

The cop said even if the unit is hidden the gun is portable and able to find its location even in the vehicle. Shocking.

Most of the time I love technology...this time I don't.
