I just had my car in the body shop a month ago after running over a huge piece of semi-truck tire retread on I-5. That little incident did $1,600 damage of which I had to pay $850 because of my deductible. (It would have been $1,000 but I bought some of the parts myself and saved) I thought I had met my quota for car trouble for the year but was given a rude awakening in the form of a 2002 VW New Beetle yesterday on I-5, in the same general area (Everett Mall area) where I ran over the tire tread. She wasn't going too fast when she hit me, you can't at 3:30 in the afternoon on that piece of I-5, but fast enough to do $2,300 in estimated damage, $1,100 of that is to replace the HKS exhuast system. Good thing is she admitted to being at fault and has insurance. The WSP took an accident report so it is documented. Hopefully I can get her fixed soon (the car, not the other driver ) and back on the road.
