Post Butte College update bottom of two pics

hey guys,
i'm a student at butte community college in oroville/chico, CA. Home of one of the first Honda Schools (Honda PACT Program). This year we have started a motorsports class which is basically us working at and around tracks doing various things. whatever we feel we want to do (ie i'm crewing for a spec miata but others are working on formula ford teams or just in the tower)

Next year though we will be racing a 2004 Honda S2000 in SCCA T2 national and regional events. Hopefully making it to Kansas next year. Driven by Dave Vodden (ceo of Thunderhill Raceway Park)

We just started tearing apart our S last weekend to install our rollcage we had sent from england that cost a good $2100 tax dollars. (school gave us a little budget) It was custom bent for us because it was rated for FIA but we needed thicker tubing to have it NASA/SCCA legal. The cage should be installed and welded in 2 more weeks. but for now i've got some pics farther down. Our Hard top was also donated by Honda of North America.

Right now a few classmates and i have started looking for prospective sponsors so if anyone here knows of a good company that is looking for cars to sponsor pass it on lol. Currently Sponsored by Honda of North America and Butte College.

A little history about the car:
it was given to us by Honda of North America after it's short stint as a "press car". it's the car that all those editors drove back in 2004 model year reviews.

here are some original pics when we first got the car about 9 months ago:

Here is the car in it's new enclosed trailer (tax dollars) and we have a E350 van to tow it with (not pictured)

Our new top (getting painted black this weekend):

And here is where we are right now:

We are hoping to have it fully prepared around january (we wont be making decembers national in phoenix).

Thanks for ur time, if anyone has any tips/information they want to share please feel free. We could use all the help we can get.

i thought T2 required you to have all the interior in place? i guess you are going to put it back in. Maybe you needed to remove it for the cage install.?? (i don't install cages, so I don't know).

pretty cool taking a street car like that... i used a "no title" car to make mine into a race car.... i saved $15k+++

Hi ______ ? (you forgot to mention your name)

Why did you strip the car? There is no need for T2 to go down to that level.

Anyways, I'm at Honda R&D in Ohio and built a T2 S2000 last fall so I can help with questions as you go along the way.

Koni 2812s work well with the stock springs (as required by Touring rules).
You'll definately need a clutch type diff (Kaaz, ATS, Mugen...) in place of the stock LSD. Those are the 2 big cost items, plus more wheels. I run stock wheels but if you have the budget you can get Kodiaks (must be stock width).
Wing and front lip are not legal for T2.

PM sent with my contact info.

Jeremy

hey thanks for the replies.
sorry i forgot to mention my name is Cory Turner. We are tearing it this far down because we needed to pull the dash all the way out to install the cage. we are welding it ourselves. just following the instructions from the company that bent the piping for us.

as for the wing and lip they are stock option parts and should be legal but something i will bring up with dave. It is some weight we should remove anyways though. thanks for info on the shocks and other stuff.

Currently we have 15 people on the team. of which there are 4 of us that are taking it upon our shoulders to find sponsors and it's kind of frustrating because the rest of the team is kind of just sitting back watching and not helping.

We do have a tire sponsor but we are unsure if we are going to run with hoosiers or toyo's yet. dave is currently running in SMT so he loves the RA1's and we'll most likely go with those. Since that is what our driver wants.

The wheels we are unsure about. I think my teachers are trying to score a set or two from Honda. but we'll have to get lucky as we did with the hardtop.

Parts we still need:

Air Filter
Cat Back Exhaust
Samco Hoses
Radiator Screen
LSD
Shocks
Brake Pads
Brake Fluid
Remove Brake Dust Shields
Braided Brake Lines
2x sets of wheels OEM size
Toyo/Hoosiers
Drivers Seat
Harness
Steering wheel and hub
roll cage
remove sun visors
window net
fire supression
remove srs+airbags
comptech diff housing

a minor list that i came up with. i know there will be more and i'm unsure of what exact parts we will be going with but we'll find that out when we get sponsors

Trust me, the accessory parts are not legal in T2; they are not "standard equipment".

If your trying to be competitive as possible, Toyos won't cut it. You'll need Hoosiers or Kumhos.

If you want a seat on adjustable rails, you'll want the Taitec ones from Science of Speed, nothing goes lower and still slides.

New shock rule wording is expected before next season. Remote reservoirs will be legal next season.

Jeremy... look at it this way, if he beats you, you know you can pull a CieChanski style protest on his ass

Already missing the sound deadening on top of the fuel pump... can't tell if it's been removed from the trunk. You should glue it back on if you can.

Keep a rule book next to the car guys. If you're going to the Runoffs you gotta build the car to the letter.

If you're keeping the stock intake I'll donate a K&N drop-in filter. I assume the 04+ takes the same unit as my '00.
