Owner's Manual and Service Manual Both indicate 5.1 quarts of oil on a change. Why
do people here think that both manuals are incorrect and that we should add 5.6 quarts of oil? Does the dipstick not read full at 5.1 quarts? (I have the 2001 Service Manual, which also covers 2000, and the Owner's Manual is 2000)

The manual may not be incorrect. It may be the dipstick is wrong. (but it comes full on the stick from the factory, so we guess that they ignore the books too).

So I take it that after changing the oil and adding only 5.1 quarts it doesnt read full on the dipstick?

Why else do you think there would be hundreds of posts suggesting more oil?

So, where does the oil on the dipstick read to when 5.1 quarts are added....is it half way between full and add? (Not sure if we ever determined how much oil is required between the full and add marks on the dipstick)
