Question Ap2 v 93+ rx-7

Its about 8:30pm on the freeway and there is a very light amount of cars about. Im doing about 70-75 crusing along with the top up. I notice a pair of head lights weaving in and out of traffic and he quickly catches up to me. Its a white last gen RX-7 TT. I hear what apparently seems to be a light pshh pssh noise coming from his car. He paces me side by side for about a mile till i see if he wants to play or not. I drop it down to fourth since its all but a waste of time to down it to 3rd as im fast appraching 80mph. I make sure he really wants to play by inching forward half a car and he does the same so we do this back and forth a few exchanges and then we both gun it. I jump ahead a bit and he is at my door and stays there till i shift to 5th. i start to pull a bit more and let off at 115 after we hit the pocket of cars in front of us. His windows were tinted so i couldnt see a reaction but i gave him a thumbs up and slowed back down to 75. His car didnt seem modded and i think it still had the stock exhaust as it was not too big and the car wasnt very loud.

I know street racing is stupid, but its the first time my cars ever been in a fight lolz.

haha mine had a few boost leaks when i first got it... stock with 53k and it didn't hold the 10-8-10 pattern it is supposed to.. it was more like 10-6-flat on its face...

just be careful you don't run acrossed me now though..it holds boost pretty well

Am I missing something? I've also beaten a TT Rx-7. Why does it automatically have to be leaking boost?

true... tho my seven felt faster than my s2k. I did however mess around with my buddies FD, and he says he was having boost problems. Which was pretty apparent since i pulled on him like no other.

chances are it has a boost leak because 99.999% of them do... there are 1500000 vaccum lines that are brittle because of all the heat this tihng produces..... i raced my s2k against a rx7 with exhaust and stayed right at his door.... i don't doubt the story at all.. but under full running condition, the rx7 pulls harder... just my .02

Id hate to be a magazine racer and all but the specs are very similar. Virtually same weight and hp. RX-7s do have an edge on torque but at those speeds torque doesnt matter as much since its mostly all top end. . .

Both cars can do sub 6 second 0-60 and both do high 13 low 14 second 1/4 runs trapping withim 1-2 mph. Truely good competitors.

the big difference is that the rx7 makes power a lot quicker due to the seq. TT set up.....i love both cars..... i think both these cars will still look dead sexy in 20+ years...

I agree. I used to own one. Tracking down the leak was a (*&^#@*^$*#^$!!!! But a few simple reliability mods, and that mofo pulled like no other.

I stated possible boost leak because as stated 99% of them out there have boost problems as my stock on did as well.

Even stock, it defintetly felt alot faster than my S2k, although in reality theyre about the same, with a slight nod towards the Rx-7.

Think about it. Lighter AND 15 hp more. Plus the smaller turbo helped a great deal with torque.
