Default '06 reviews - anybody driven one?

I saw one on eBay so I see they're hitting the streets. Just curious about driving impressions early on?

They chopped off another 1000 RPMs, and gave it 1 pound of torque ;D

i actually test drove one 2 nights ago!!!

the car is awesome, but i cant compare it with any other year because, i havnt had a chance to drive one.

it was a black 06 at a local honda dealer. im guessing this is how all s2000s felt? the car was very solid, felt like a big go kart. the engine was smooth, i didnt really notice a vtec crossover (kick or noise) but maybe i was to excited. The guy who came with me from the dealership was really cool, he let me rip on the car down a long strip of road, brought it to redline through 2-3-4 and someway into 5th. What a rush!!!! Also, the car could turn on a dime, and stop too. everything on this car is well addressed. the one thing i didnt like is i noticed a rattle somewhere (with the top down) but couldnt pin point it. also, the cockpit is VERY dark at night (with the top up) and you can see almost nothing.

I wanted to test drive this because I was interested in either an s2000 or an STi ( I know they are very different cars) and i must tell you. i am in love with the S!!! (will be looking for a 00-03 soon enough, when my ep3 is gone

I wouldnt buy a car that you test drove like that. It's very bad for the s2k engine to let it rip before 600 miles on the engine. Just a heads up!

And this is why many new S2K owners are leary of buying a "new" car that has been test driven and why many dealers are reluctant to give test drives unless you are serious about buying the car. The dealer rep should know better. What you probably don't realize is that Honda recommends that you keep the RPM below 6K for the first 600 miles due to the manufacturing process of the cylinder walls. Not everyone does but ......

Glad you had a good time, though.

It is quite likely that the rattle that you heard with top down was one of the latches for the roof. They need to be relatched after they are released or they can rattle.
