T1R 70mm exhaust review!
A lot of people have been PMing me about my exhaust asking for pictures, ideas, and whatnot. I'm making this thread because even though the exhaust has been discussed somewhat, there really aren't many pictures of it or reviews other than "sounded loud and good gains!" The estimated dyno gains of this exhaust are 15 rwhp midrange, and 10 rwhp peak. I opted for this exhaust because, this is basically where the AP1 and AP2 differ. I know my car is putting out similar numbers to a stock AP2 now, and I still have much more room to grow still for NA power.
Here are some pictures, albeit small and crappy looking:

As you can see, I have the ZTEC single exhaust cap with it. I bought these from the member m32. He had great communication and very honest. Packaged very well too. If he ever decides to sell stuff again, he gets +5 bumps for being a great guy
Weight: 22 pounds for exhaust, 4 for the test pipe included. HUGE savings over stock which is over 60 pounds.
Here are my thoughts on sound and performance:
This exhaust sounds MEAN. It is the best 4 cylinder exhaust I've ever heard actually. I plain love the sound. After installing, my friend said "wow, that sounds like a subwoofer." When you put your ear by the exhaust outlet at idle, it is a very low, subsonic rumble
When you get on it slowly, the exhaust has this smooth, deep rising tone. If any sound engineer guys are here, it wouldn't look like the sound waves would be up and down, it would be smooth as if it was mastered material
At VTEC crossover, the exhaust gets AGGRESSIVE. The same low rumble turns into a high pitched scream. A lot of people say this exhaust is loud, like the Invidia. I don't think it's unmanageable though. It is my daily driver and I love the sound. It isn't as annoying as the Invidia, IMO. This exhaust is loud to some extent, but it sounds fantastic. It is NOT ricey at all.
On terms of sound alone, I highely recommend this exhaust for someone looking for a mean sounding exhaust. The drone is there in the typical 3-4k range, but it's not bad. I've definitely heard worse. If you find the right speed and throttle pressure it goes away anyway. Keep in mind, this exhaust comes with a silencer that can be screwed into the tip, although I've never done it or heard it yet.
In terms of power/performance, down low you don't really notice anything. Once 4-5K hits, your butt definitely knows something's going on
You feel a slight quicker burst of acelleration. When VTEC hits, that effect is even more prominent. When doing roll ons, and cruising around 5k in 1st or 2nd gear and you punch it, the car flys. You can DEFINITELY feel the effect and power of this exhaust. I'm not just talking about sound here, you can feel the car acellerates easier in any gear now.
Does this exhaust provide a 'bang for the buck' for your ~1100 dollars spent (brand new)? You could get better gains from gears or FI of course, but from a bolt on point of view this exhaust probably cannot be touched. The J's is a good 3 to 4 hundred more and the Amuse is WAY more for the same thing. I don't think any other bolt on besides these 3 exhausts is going to give you anywhere near the amount of power that these provide. This is THE exhaust system to get if you're highest priority is power, and then want good looks and sound for a good price.
For people who want the most power for their money, well you shouldn't even be thinking about exhaust unless you're already FI, in which case you should be looking for a custom 3" single. If you're in the market for an exhaust on your NA car and want great sound, light weight, great looks and of course great performance, this IMO is the best exhaust you can get for the money.
I hope this helps all of you out who are in the market for a T1R 70mm.
Love, Justin
