Default Political subforum in Vintage

I had planned to leave the political threads in Vintage for the time being, but a PM from cthree (Erik) has persuaded me that these threads need to be confined to the Off Topic/Politics and Current Events Forum. So I will be moving the existing threads shortly, and any new political threads must be initiated in that forum. Here is the link:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=130

It is a members-only forum, which means that only members can post there. So if you are a guest, you must become a member in order to access the forum. Be sure to read the rules for posting in the forum. ImportSport is the Moderator. I will be notifying him of this decision. Thanks for your cooperation.

I would like the Vintage community to know / understand that this was not a unilateral decision by MsPerky, and I fully support this decision. There are some good reasons to get politics out of Vintage and very few reasons to keep it.

All that said, I hope folks understand that this move was mostly motivated by the tone of many people's posts in the political threads. I guess age and wisdom do not necessarily translate into good etiquette when it comes to political discussions.

Anyway, IMO, good riddance. Let's continue to talk about the subjects that we're good at, and let's continue to be frank and compassionate all at the same time. The Vintage community rocks!

It looks like a looooooooooong cooooooooold winter in the Vintage Forum. While I weigh in occasionally to these threads, I'm curious to know exactly what will lead to moving a thread

Many times a true vintage thread develops political overtones for 1/2 page and then gets back OT Will you mods be giving some warnings....so that we don't lose otherwise vibrant illuminating classic vintage threads I would like to suggest an initial process whereby you 'post a warning' and delete offending postings....before throwing out the baby with the bath water

We'll see, Jer. We have a few tools at our disposal, such as splitting threads -- we may take advantage of that.

NOW I understand why I was posting on a Political Thread a 1/2 hour ago....and was flummoxed when the reply appeared on the Political Forum (or whatever that wasteland is called).

Oh well, maybe this will increase the paid membership.....when all the combatants need to pay the toll

Bad move. I know you two are not responsible, but it's a bad move.

Thanks for taking on this additional task. It was not in the job description when Rob resigned and you took over

It shouldn't've been necessary.

I ask everyone to tone down the language and the nastiness when it's latent and we won't have a problem.

Look, guys, neither Debs nor I wants to be a babysitter. Unfortunately, things happen.

We have a great membership, and I'm sure "this too shall pass."
