Default Just bought 2002 in Bay Area for MSRP

Put a deposit down for the next allocation at Merced Honda. FYI - Merced is about 2.5 hours from San Jose on the way to Yosemite. The gentleman I have dealt with to date:

Phil Gauthier
Internet Manager
Merced Honda
(800)734-8101

Seems to be a very straight shooter. They only sell for MSRP and don't force options. If you are sick of the games Bay Area dealers play (as I was) I highly recommend you give Merced a try.

Can't wait for my first Bay Area meet!

I am planning on getting a 2002 in early Spring (if I can wait that long). I went to try it out but I haven't discussed pricing yet?
How bad is it in the Bay Area? How long will you have to wait to get your S2K in Merced?

Congratulations.

I lived in the Bay Area when I bought my car from Merced Honda. They were great! They even picked me up at the train station

s2K02 - they have a sliver/blk coming in late Nov/early Dec, but it has hardtop and spoiler which I didn't want. I basically get their next allocation. Phil told me late Dec/Early Jan which is dealer speak for the end of January. If you gave them a deposit today, you'd basically be looking at Feb (FYI - my deposit is fully refundable should I decide to cancel for any reason).

carlson - I still need to decide. I've probably got two weeks before it would hold things up. I'm down to yellow, red or silver. I have ruled out white (same as my daily driver GSR), black (same as wife's Accord) and blue (the interior is too much for me). I'm leaning towards yellow since the car is my weeked warrior fun ride.

s2kbug - did you deal with Phil?

WhiteS2k - out of 60+ emails sent to dealers as far away as Reno they were the only ones less than MSRP + $1,500. For $1,500 I can deal with a nice 2.5 hour drive that happens to be on the way to Yosemite

Jimbo - I dealt with Rich Mayes and Dub. I don't know if they are still there. This was January thru April of 2000.
