Default Hitch for an 04+?

The FAQ'd links didnt have much info on what would work on an 04+ car in the way of trailer hitches. Trying to figure out a way to get the R-comps to events without buying a tow vehicle . Anyone out there with an 04+ with a tire transportation solution?

Doug Chase might still have some.

Anyone know if this will work for '04+ cars (the trailer hitch, not the swaybar )?

I have one of these on my '01 and it works well. There are two mounting issues:

1) The forward piece mounts to two pre-existing holes in the bottom of the trunk. Look for plastic plugs under the car - if they're there, it will work fine. I'd add a piece of metal (I used a plate of stainless steel, Conedodger used aluminum) on the inside of the trunk to help prevent pulling holes in the trunk floor over time.

2) The rear piece mounts to the bumper support. At least early cars have holes already in the support but I had to drill mine. No big deal, just some extra work.

Which hitch were you referring to? Thanks.

Jeff's talking about the Gendron hitch.

The Chase hitch mounts using existing holes and bolts, and all three mouting points are structural elements.

I'm not sure, but I've seen a photo that seems to indicate that using the Gendron hitch requires cutting the rear bumper cover, at least on the 2004+ S2000.

Here's the 2004+ version of the Chase hitch on a 2005 S2000. The ball mount came from Hitchweb. More images here

^^^ Thanks John!

Is the hitch removeable? It looks like the cotter pin on the rear mounts for the bolt throught the heim joints might be hard to get at.

The Chase Race hitch is easy to remove. It's a little more fussy to put back in.

Yep, the Gendron hitch requires a small, unseen (unless you don't keep the shiny side up) cut in the bottom of the bumper cover...

I like the two pins to remove the drawbar - very simple and fast to remove.

Jeff, does your 2001 require a small cut, or a 2004? The 2004+ bumper cover comes down much lower.

The ChaseRace hitch comes off with three pins. 50% more difficult to remove!
