Default JL Audio Stealthbox Install...First impressions

First and foremost I would like to thank Don Vertrees @ JL Audio for taking on this project and producing a high quality solution for all the S2000 owners out there. My dealing with Don were very professional, and his team down there really did a top notch job!

OK guys, the JL Audio Stealthbox for the S2000 is in production!! I installed mine this weekend. The quality and fit of the box is excellent, and unlike some of the other stealthboxes, the S2000 stealthbox comes fitted with an awesome 10W3 driver(250 Watts Continuous baby!!)

The box is installed in the well of the trunk. Removal and relocation of the tool kit is required (I put my tools in a small bag and stuck them in the spare tire). The box is actually bolted in from underneath the car, so removal of the trunk liner is also necessary. There are 2 plugs underneath the trunk liner that need to be removed. Once these are gone, the trunk liner is put back in and small holes will be cut in the liner where the plugs were. After your speaker wire is run, the box is placed in the trunk and bolted in from underneath. There are very easy to follow instructions included with the box. Once the box is installed, there is a "cargo well cover/grill" that fits over top and makes the whole set up look totally "stealth". You do lose a little trunk space with this box though. I would guesstimate around 2-3" of depth were lost, but the sound is SO worth it.

Speaking of the sound...it rocks! Definetly enough bass, and I like bass. Enough to make the mirrors shake and the seats quake. The only drawback is a few rattles that I haven't been able to take care of yet. I would definetly suggest some DYNOMAT before installation. When I have some free time, the box is coming out and the trunk is getting the full dynomat treatment....but I'm kind of anal about that sort of stuff.

This is actually the 3rd box I've had in my S2000, and definetly the one I like the most.

Alright guys, any questions?

Great news! I'm really glad this has finally seen the light of day - I've been holding back on a sub/amp install until I could have a look at one of these

Scott, where have you mounted your amp to run the sub? Have you any pics of the finished article?

Thanks!

pix and price. In my experience JL charges way too much for these mass produced products.

sounds fantastic! yeah, some pic would be nice so I can try to mimick it as closely as possible! hehe

whats the price on that unit, last I heard, loaded with a driver it was about 550? or has that gone down?

JL makes some very high quality products, a lot of poeple knock them because they are popular, but man, do they make great sounding subs and speakers. 8w6 was in my opinion, the best 8 inch sub ever made!

Sorry guys, no pics. I don't have access to a digital camers, but beleive me it looks pretty damn good installed. The carpeting used on the grill/cover is pretty close to a perfect match. JL would have had to go to Honda to get anything closer.

As for the rattles....it's a little more than just the license plate. If you're picky like me, take the time to dynomat!

I'm running the box off a Fosgate Punch 100. Both my amps are snugged into the cubby hole next to the spare tire (behind the panel in the trunk to the left).

I'll send an email to Don V. @ JL to see if I can find out an apprx. price for the box. I'll let everyone know asap.

Would it be possible to have JL Audio place photos on their website? They do this for other stealthboxes on the market.
