boycotting danish products
I am upset, and paralyzed. Our dignity is very important, and in these days, it is very fragile. He is not goerg bosh or toni, you can not compare Prophit Muhammed with a current president. It is just wrong!!!!!

It's only a cartoon/freedom of speech/one person(s) thought(s)!
The actions of extreme Muslims thoughout the world have caused more damage than this cartoon-why aren't you as upset with THEM as you are with this cartoon?

First, you are right, we are upset with them now more than just the cartoon
Second, It is because no body hears us out, maybe because this thing went from denmark newspaper to other publications and no body stopped them...
Unfortunately, things will get worse.
Finally, I came on the S2ki forum to talk about it, maybe someone will prove me wrong, and I am willing to except it.
I want to be civilized and talk about it, so lets do that...kapish..

Omran,
The reason, or so it appears to me anyway, why you might not being heard is because for every sane muslim that wants dialogue, there are 10 more shouting and screaming and demanding that heads roll, that Europe should swim in its own blood.
As has been said, it was the bad judgement of a few individuals that was commenting on a small minority that have hijacked the Islamic faith. By boycotting everything Danish, aren't you doing exactly the same thing and painting everyone from a certain country/race with the same brush?
You talk about dignity - would it not be more dignified to ignore a few small minded people and work towards snuffing out the 'brothers' that kill and maim innocents in the name of Islam.
I have the utmost respect for Islam as every muslim I have ever met has been a positive example of their faith - however, the images were printed in a secular, European country that holds freedom of speech as dear as muslims hold aspects of their faith.
It smacks of insecurity to me.
Also, it is hard for me to fully understand your veiwpoint as I'm not religious and I come from a culture where everything is open to redicule without exception.

Boycott or not to boycott?
You are right Asterix! I have posted in other forums, and I have been reading there points. Some are very bad, some not polite and some surprisingly enlighten.. Boycott is not the solution...
So, the question is? If we do ignore those cartoons, and do ignore other small tiny bits of things that bugs me and irritates Muslim world, and relating us to Binladin, and discriminating me for having a wife with a scarf. Should we do something! anything to stop this?
I am sorry for thinking for a moment that boycotting danish products will be the solution, It is NOT, that is not fair for the poor people who work and make money for there families.

Of course it should not be ignored but there are very few voices asking for calm and dialogue.
For instance, in London there were 'muslims' with their faces covered carrying banners calling for death and violence.
There was not one Mulla there to oppose these extremists and put forward valid, balanced and intelligent reasoning.
I see all this tension as a lack of understanding from both sides to their respective sensibilities.
I personally ignore plenty of things that are said about me and my culture etc... it's just not worth getting upset about - it also fuels those making the comments - the get you upset so they'll do worse next time. Now this doesn't of course match insults to a religion, especialy as Islam is part of everyday culture and government in Islamic states.

No-what you should do is gather your like-minded friends (Muslim, Jew, Christian, whatever they are) and declare that you will not allow your faith to be over run by extremists who continually call for the DEATH of all non-Islamic believers.
If in fact, there is a small minority of Islamic extremists, surely you have the strength and the numbers to counter act those people and their actions.
For every horrible act done by them, you, along with your friends, do something positive and let the world know that you will not stand for your religion to be degraded like that.
Just my 2 cents.
