Thumbs up How many S2000 owners have a clear bra?

Ok, get your minds out of the gutter Seriously though, I was curious as to how many S2000 owners on the forum have the clear 3M type protective bra on their car? I'm trying to decide if I want to have it done, if it would be worth it, and if I would even like the way that it looks from up close. Opinions please.

I have one---no rock chips at all and not noticable at all on my Silverstone (you do have to clean the edges carefully when you wax so they don't show up but that takes about 5 extra minutes)

I don't have one myself, but I have read quite a few threads where it seems that its a popular item. There's a couple owners here in my area that have them and swear by them.

Thanks guy's, what happens to it when it gets hit by a rock? Does it get ruffed up or snagged/punctured so that it is no longer smooth and transparent? Also, can it be removed and replaced with out hurting the paint? Is removal and replacement a big deal? Thanks.

Also, I would like to hear from anyone that doesn't have a clear bra on their car. Any regrets? Thanks.

It's noticible, don't kid yourself...make your compromise between rock chips or a less than optimal paint finish. On the darker colors the effect is more pronounced.

I LOVE not having rock chips anymore...

btw a heat gun helps in future removal. BIG rock hits on the bra will leave puntures but the underlying paint is still intact.

I have it on for 17000 miles NO chips

yes detail it with a old tooth brush along the edge

best if you claybar the car first and then wax... to have a totally smooth finish

I'm considering Rio Yellow Pearl; will it be more or less noticeable on that color? Also, if it gets punctured by a rock and ruffed up, how noticeable is it? I don't want it to start getting ruffed up and draw attention to itself.

All of you that have it, would you do it again if given the choice?

For a rock to puncture/mark a clear bra, you would have had a sizeble paint chip/dent. Yellow is a very light color and the bra would be less noticible. When you are shopping for a clear bra installer, have him refer you to some of his other work so you know he can do the job right.

Dark colors where you can get a glass reflection like berlina, laguna or nfr will show the bra imperfections the most. The symptoms look like blurring or orangepeel where the clearbra is.

If you have a perfect paintjob to begin with, I would HIGHLY recommend a clear bra and will do it again when I replace the current bra.

I have that color and it's almost invisible except for the seam line. Definitely worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Most of the rock hits that would chip your paint don't leave a mark at all since it's kinda rubbery. The big ones though can leave little pits. It catches your eye sometimes but it's nowhere near as bad looking as a rock chip. I've had chunks of road debris hit my clear bra and pull up small sections but my paint was untouched. I just used a razor to cut out the ruined area and laid the rest flat again. Those fixes don't look all that great, but again, still better looking than a big scratch or rock chip.
