Default Regular OBD2 scanner don't work on '06

Has anyone successfully link up an OBD2 scanner/reader on an '06? So far I have tried 3 different units without success. Each would power up and give me an error message. From talking to one of the scanner's manufacturer, they claimed starting '06 all Honda vehicles changed to Extended CAN protocol. I've searched all local autoparts stores and none carries a unit that can read the Extended CAN.

If you have a scanner that has proven to work on an '06, please post your brand and model. Thanks.

Another interesting tidbit: the usual pulling the "back-up" fuse under the driver dash will not reset the check engine light on an '06.

The 06 is extended C.A.N. not C.A.N. is what people are saying. The OEM HDS from Teradyne retails for around $7000. SlowsS2k say's there is no way it is worth it. He recommends the pocket version from Teradyne which is around $2500 according to him. I believe Slows2k has already confirmed that his pocket Teradyne will scan an 06. Billman250 has a Matco scan tool which retails for around $550 which he thinks will scan an 06, however I do believe he was waiting to confirm this before stating it outright.

BTW. I guess some of what I was replying to is from the other thread on the 06 OBDII port location. I am really not trying to tell anyone what they already said, more trying to bring info from both threads into one.

That's the first time I've heard that, thanks for the info.

Today I dropped by the Honda dealer. The mechanic hooked up the normal Honda Teradyne portable OBD2 scanner and it did not work.

We finally got it to work using the Honda HDS tablet, a big touch screen portable computer. So for now it's the only thing I know that works with an '06.
