What experience has made you feel Vintage lately?
I had a chat today with a female coworker that is twenty-eight. The subject turned to our taste in movies and she stated that she does not like "chick flicks", but favors horror/suspense/action flicks.
I asked her if she had ever seen the Steve McQueen movie Bullit with was at the time (circa 1968) was the longest chase scene in movie history. (Followed, I believe by "The French Connection" and then "Gone in Sixty Seconds" years latter).
Not only had she never watched Bullit, she had never heard of the movie, or Steve McQueen.
Wow! That made me feel Vintage.

Still one year away from officially being Vintage, but yesterday was my birthday and one of my students said it was his as well. To prove it, he showed me his ID card with his birth date on it. It said 3/8/90. I was just graduating college that year. That made me feel 'Vintage'.

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought all kinds of stuff, BITSA be dammed. Anyway, when I got home and was unpacking the bags, I noticed I bought the name brand Benedryl. I had brain fade to do that. I always buy the generic one to save $$. It's not a big thing but it's not what I wanted to buy.

I feel Vintage every AM until I hit the shower to get the "creaks" out.

Looking in the mirror (when I'm sober).
Lots of little things. Like, reading F1 magazine today and realizing it's been 10 years since Damon Hill won the Championship. Geeez, I watched and met his Dad when he raced. And, then it hit me. Graham's been dead 31 years!!

1) Instructing at autocross events and being called "Sir" by my students.
2) Trying to explain to same students that, before the S, i raced a Fiat X1/9. (Tough to explain, as they weren't even born when the car went out of production.)
3) Being beat this year at an autocross by a kid who was pedaling a Big Wheel around the course when I started autocrossing. (Of course, he beat his Dad too, and Dad's been doing this longer than I have.)

How much is a tad??
I know where you are coming from. There have been times people have asked if my grandchild in my child. I feel smug about that too. I'll just call it "Vintage Denial." The denial/smugness only lasts until the child points out an "age spot" on my hand and "tells me don't worry Grandma, the doctor can fix it." Yeah, the doctor and a laser beam.
