Chicago area Sushi/Seafood meet - March 23
We've talked about it, so let's have one... A Sushi meet. Todai also has seafood (cooked), salad, and an assortment of other foods.
Thursday, March 23, 7pm.
Todai of Chicago
Woodfield Shopping Center (Golf Road and Route 53)
Schaumburg, IL 60173
Todai is on the Northwest corner (really the west side
) by JCPenny.
Weather should be nice enough that we at least have a shot at it being convertible weather.

I think todai is best at accomodating a larger group, and the price is fixed, $28 for dinner I think, and any drinks you plan on getting.
Sushi station is good, but the tables are small. But it is ala carte, so you can eat one plate or 10 plates. I spent about $75 here for two peeps.
Akai hana is more traditional, sit down. Again, will be hard to accomodate one table with more than 6-8 people. Sushi will be about $25, or you can get more traditional foods like Udon or Tempura etc... Expect the tab to be $15-$40 depending on what you eat. I've spent about $100 for two here piggin out on sushi. But its good....
Tank - is trendy, and the sushi is good. But pricey I think it was about $130 for two here. But thats with a bottle of saki and going all out and getting the hardcore rolls. Also had the quail eggs...
Havent had Sushi Para, but some co-workers went and didnt give the greatest reviews. Price was good though i think.
Kamehachi - Great sushi, but expect to pay top dollar
Tsukasa-so close to my area, but have never gone, no clue how this place tastes but I heard its good, but not sure. I think its a Benihana's type of establishment.
Any other suggestions? Tony can chime in at any time.
I do like Todai when I feel like stuffing myself with philly rolls and salmon sashimi. Expect a tab of $35 for dinner, a drink, and gratuity.

On a rating of 1-10 I would say its a 7. But its decent. On that same scale I would rate the crap at Jewel at -5, and the stuff at whole foods a 6. Akai hana is probably a 8-9
The rolls are OK there. I just personally like the Philly Roll. And they usually have plenty of Salmon Sashimi there. Which I love. But for most people, who don't frequent sushi too much its pretty decent quality. I go to a lot of sushi places, and still find that going to todai is the best "value"
