Hi guys,

I am moe than likely purchasing a used S2000 to use as a part time track car. I plan to attend 6 HPDE events annually in the car. I have not made the decision on what year s2000 yet.

What are the main changes that I should expect to make to insure the car is competitive on the track? I am advanced driver who has quite a few hours of track time in Corvettes and BMWs, so I have good driving experience.

Do you think a low boost turbo system would hamper the car's ability on the track?

I primarily want to make sure it is competitive against Elises and those modded Evos at the track. I know this board may be a little biased, but will well sorted S2000 circulate a road course as quickly as a nicely modded Evo?

There are F/I guys that track. Myself I would be worried about heat issues ...

The S2k is a bit more ready for the track than most cars in that the suspension is fairly good out of the box.

The typical stuff still applies ...

Better brake pads (I'm a fan of the Porterfield R4 pads up front and R4S's out back)
Better brake fluid (Motul)
Better tires (AO48's are cheap and last a while)

 

NOS (NAWZZZZZ) is your answer....just spray down the straights.... F' those modded Evo's.....

 

I had those pads on my last car... on this one Ive had negative results

There was that one video at Laguna where that guy was driving his evo over the curbing and through the gravel and still beating the shit out of those homo no torque s2000's...

 

Who is the best retailer to purchase parts like engine, suspension, brakes and cosmetic mods? I am familiar with Comptech, but they seem a little conservative.
