Default How would you like to travel?

Everyone,

Jerry's poll got me thinking about how our answers may have been different if one thinks about business travel for example versus paying for the airfare, cars and hotel out of one's own pocket. So in that light, I thought it would be fun to see how our answers might change if we could travel and have it charged to Jerry.

P.S. Jerry, I hope that you see the humor in this, as an experiement in human nature. How our behaviour changes when someone else if footing the bill.

P.P.S. BTW, there is an unsubstantiated rumor that he has a $200 credit limit imposed on his credit cards to control expense account abuse.

I have rarely traveled for business. Once while attending a two day seminar for new software for my office I stayed overnight at a hotel and ordered breakfast from room service. I think I even called home to talk to Rick and added that to the bill.

About five years ago while on a ten day trip to several European countries with my boss' boss we talked about packing for the trip before we left as Europeans dress much more formally than American business casual. The Branch Manager stated: No problem, we are going to spend the weekend between weeks at the Hyatt in Budapest, lets just pack for a week and have the hotel do our laundry over the weekend and we will be ready for the second week.

Well, just for my five shirts, socks and underwear the valet bill came to $120.00. Worse yet, as the hotel's laundry does not operate on weekend's they farmed it out and my white shirts and T-shirts came back gray. If I did not know better, I think that they were pounded on rocks on the banks of the Danube River.

I'll play along Matt....although there are some folks here who would be very upset to see their name in the thread topic sub-heading

In my case, it just elevates my VSA status Maybe Carmen will even vote in your poll.

Hmmmm.....I'm the only one to vote for 'middle of the road'. Interesting that....as a former owner of a small business.....I guess I will always have an 'owners perspective'. I think that's what won me my new position, in fact

Even with Jerry paying, I voted middle of the road. Then tell him I went First class and ask for the money .

I would fly first class but still like hotels that are middle of the road. How about that Jerry?

I don't care that much about hotels. Clean and comfortable is fine. I haven't found many $200/night hotels to be much better than the $70/night hotels anyway. The difference starts being seen at $50/night and below. Of course, often you are paying for location, and that can be worth some extra money.

On the other hand, if somebody else were paying I would be flying by private jet. Much better than First Class on an airline.
