Default Lost 5th gear

HELP! My 00' s2k has just lost 5th gear suddenly. I have had an issue with 5th gear a month or so ago. I had a hard time not getting it into 5th but out. I drained the fluid immediately and replaced it with honda MTF. After it wasn't entirely better but a day or to it was back to normal. Just yesterday though i go from 4th to 5th at about 5k rpm heard a grind pop and then the sudden disengagement of 5th gear. Now it is completely impossble to select 5th gear. I need some help and would greatly appreciate it.

put it on a milk carton and try to find it.

j/k. couldn't resist.

When you try to put it into gear you can't get it to go into that gear? What does it do? If you can't FORCE it into 5th, then it's time to get your tranny torn down and rebuilt.

Well... if you ever considered doing a 04+ tranny swap now would be the time! DOh! I always hate these stories because you KNOW its going to get expensive.

One guess is that you have a bent shift piece. I assume you are still able to go into 6th? If you couldn't then I would have said that the shift piece is broken.

Just curious ...................... can you get it into 5th if the engine is off and your clutch is to the floor?

anything and everything i can think of to get a car into gear and it wont. Car is on or off, with rpm and without, cold and hot. Nothing to get it in. 04' tranny has kevlar syncros right?

You don't need syncros if the engine is off to get into gear. This tells me that you have a bent shift piece or the gear itself won't slide on its shaft.

Although a possibility, skip shifting wears down and ruins syncros. In this case, he can't even get it into 5th with the engine off. He should be able to push it into gear when nothing in the tranny is spinning, even with really bad syncros or no syncros at all.

Well recent up date now 5th gear is back to working but is still hard to put into and to get out of gear. I haven't missed or ground into 5th gear ever possibly the previous owner?

I know its not syncros old integra had bad ones and could get in gear.
