Default 2006 S2000 - Who has one and what do you think?

Hey,

What is your oipinion on the 2006 S2000? I would like to know if anyone has one yet and how is the car different from previous years. I know about the list of changes given by Honda but how does this translate to the real world?

a) Is there any difference in performance (with the inclusion of the Drive By Wire?)

b) How noticable is the V-tec Kick in?

c) Sound of the engine/exhaust?

d) How much better is the new stereo?

Obviously previously owning an earlier model helps in the comparison?

Thanks!

Never driven an earlier model, but:

VTEC is very noticeable
Engine/Exhaust sounds good, especially with added K&N FIPK
Stereo sounds good, not the best
DBW is good, but prob. not as responsive as cable.

Love the car!

Actually there are more than cosmetic changes.

Drive one and you'll get all your answers.

a) no diff that I've notced

b) less noticable than my other cars with a VTEC engine, less than an AP1 IMO, same as other AP2

c) same as any other ap2

d) well I'm replacing my stereo next week, but it's not bad at all actually.

I got an 06 s2k a month ago and I love it. The fly by wire is less jerky than the older models when the car is cold but i dont think there are any performance changes! Either way it is a hell of a car!

Dont forget..........in England we still have the AP1 Engine in the AP2 car. Am I right in saying this? This surely means we still get that more significant V-tec kick......?

It actually does - I ordered one and K&N originally did not send the parts for the 06 in my kit, they have since sent everything. I've installed it and it works fine. It's actually now called the 63 Series Air Charger - but it's exactly the same as the FIPK

havent driven an older model s. but coming from a 91 crx, the s is definately 10 times more luxurious...

a) from the old school throttle of the crx to this new dbw, i honestly dont sense a difference, but ive heard that other things will affect some of the hi rev shifting (i.e. clutch slave cylinder)

b) imo, the vtec, or possibly just the power in general is definately noticable, specifically after each shift when shifting between 6-8k
and in gears 1-2, 2-3, (havent been brave enough to hit redline any faster than that hehe)

c) sound is exhilarating when cruising top down from as early as 5k rpm, on up to vtec.
and just out of curiosity to fully examine its exhaust note, i also revved this thing at idle, just to about 3-4k and noticed how sweet it sounds coming back down towards the lower rpms, it settles to a nice full, deep hum.

d) the stereo does it job...as in plays music at a reasonable sound range, it would definately be dissapointing if your an audiophile. plus, the new speakers in the roll hoops only output hi frequencys (i.e. treble, hi-hats etc) with everything centered, you cant really tell that they're even there
