OFFICIALLY BUMMED
so after noticing how NICE it was outside after all the rain, i decided to take the top off the S2000 while leaving work early this afternoon. well, i forgot to lock the latches, and guess what happened when i put the top back up....i was like WTF?????

How can this possibly happen? looks like the the latch thing was verticle and simply cut a hole through my top. is this a manufacture flaw? or was it just one in a million chance with the alignment of the stars? has this EVER happend to anyone else, cause we all know we all occasionally forget to lock the latches before we put the top down. also, apparently, i cant lock the latch now cause the plastic piece broke off. what a great way to start off the weekend? i wonder if honda will repair this for free under good faith since my top is in excellent condition and i only have 20K miles on the car. if not, what is the CHEAPEST way to go about replacing the top? or can i get it sown back together???
any advice or consolation would be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused. Were you taking the top completely off or just putting it down. Did it tear on one side or both? How could the latch cause that?
I don't think I've ever closed the latches when I'm putting the top down.
Regardless, that sucks and I'm sorry to hear about it. I'd start with the dealership since it's more than likely under warranty.

Sorry to hear about this...it seems like a freak incident.

Seriously, how would the latch punch a hole through the top? The latch is connected to the top, isn't it?
I'm seriously confused.
just to clarify. i unlocked the the latch in order to put the top down, but i didnt lock it back in place before i put the top down so it was still "dangling". once i put the top back up when i got back home, i noticed the hole. it was definitely caused by the latch not being locked in place before i put the top down.
Anyone have the # for Honda Care or something like that? even if the car is out of warranty, and i dont have an extended one. shouldnt they offer some kind of good will or discounted price for repairs?
