Default A Return to 26

Signup is Now Closed. Thank you everyone that signed up. See you guys on the 17th!!!

A recent article in Automobile Magazine rated Route 26 by Marietta as one of the top 20 roads in the world. We haven't made a trip down there in 2 years.. Was thinking.... anyone interested in making a trip down?

(Much of the outline comes from our last trip to 26 that OhioRacer put together. I hope he doesn't mind me using the same layout as before. (If anyone hears differently, please shoot me a PM and I will alter the plans) )

--
The northern Ohio people will meet at Belden Village Mall in Canton at 8:30AM and will depart no later than 9:00AM. We will proceed south on I-77 to the Dover/New Philadelphia area. From there we will take 250 southeast. We'll have a quick jog east on 36, then head south on 800. This will take us past Clendening Lake and Piedmont Lake. We will follow 800 to 22. We will take 22 west to the Salt Fork State Park area and proceed to the lodge. At this point we can empty bladders, meet up with the Columbus folks and take photos in front of the lodge and by the lake.

The Central and Southern Ohio people will meet at the JC Penny Catalog Outlet Store, 2361 Park Crescent Dr Dk 901,Columbus, OH 43232 at 8:30AM and will depart no later than 9:00AM. You will proceed east on I-70 to Cambridge and head north for 2 exits on I-77. You will exit at route 22 and head east. Follow the signs to the Salt Fork State Park and proceed to the lodge.

It should take approximately 1 hour to get to Salt Fork State Park. The address is:
Salt Fork State Park
Us-22, Lore City, OH 43755

After lunch we will proceed back east on 22 and pick up 800 south. We will follow 800 south to I-70 east for one exit. We will pick up 40 east to Morristown for a short bit and hit 26 south from there. Route 26 will take us into downtown Woodsfield. We can stop for a break there and then continue south on route 26 to Marietta. By following this route, we will enjoy a larger portion of Route 26 than we have in the past. (return trip edit: I-77 north to exit for Route 821. 7.5 miles to 145. Right on Route 78 at 31.5 miles).

For those staying at the Hampton, we will check in upon arrival in Marietta. Wash up (wash car for those who insist), and shoot over to Blake's for the BBQ.

The lodging will be at the Hampton Inn Marietta, Ohio. Here is the link to the information --> CLICK!

Date: June 17th

Please indicate if you would like to be in the enthusiast group or the spirited group. Also, please indicate if you will have a +1. We need to know so we can get a head count for Saturday's Bbq. The BBQ will be $10 a person.

Deadline to sign up will be June 1st
This will ensure we have ample amount of time for the bbq setup and organizing the groups.

I had such a bang up time last visit, I would have to say no. BUt now that you mention it, with this new and improved group of folks, it might be fun.

Let me talk to Blake. He is from Marietta. He will know some better places to hang out rather than that yuppy shithole we ate at before.

works for me.... as long as there are dry roads, good people, good food, and rich feeding joe vodka straight, we'll have a good time
