Yeah, so i'm bs'ing you. Immke allowed me to drive an 06' for the majority of the day today, and I wanted to tell all you other AP1 owners how different it accually is. When I bought my Accord in February, i'd expressed interest in the LBP...and thought i'd give it a try for the day. Although not the LBP, color doesn't change the drive - and I wanted to report my findings to you all.
Upon initial entrance into the car, the cabin felt immediately larger, the seats seemingly wider and more accomidating. I've heard others describe the windshield pillars appearing larger than previous models, and noticed there was an additional inch of dot matrix around the windshield - accually causing an annoyance to me for the first 5-10 mins of the drive. The leather was more heavily grained than previous model years, and looked like it would hold up much better in the long run. The sound system was much better because of the addition of speakers in the roll bars - the bass response far and away better than mine, but still not as good as I think it should be in a car with a sticker around $34,000.
I have a vodoo knob on mine, so shift throws in the 06' were much longer, but very smooth because of the carbon fiber syncro's. Letting off the gas pedal while in gear caused the car to jolt a little, which mine doesn't do. While there was more torque, the car didn't feel as quick as mine. One thing I did appreciate, was the DBW - the throttle response was much faster. On the downside, I missed the high end power - not as much kick at Vtech. I tried out the VSA going around a few corners, and I can see how it is useful if you get in over your head and begin to lose the tail end. You have the option to turn it off, so you can still have fun if you wish but i'm not too sure if off means off..... will it kick in when extremely necessary while turned off?
All in all, this car is much more civilized than the AP1 - much more comfortable, but not as raw. It handled and rode slightly more taut than mine, the 17" wheels made that difference. I like the more aggressive look of the AP2, and think the 06' wheels really are sharp in person. Honestly, it's a completely different beast, and I do appreciate it for what it is. I fell in love with my car all over again when I got back into it, but wouldn't mind stepping up to a newer model - someday. I'm still having fun in Vtech

Can you sense and difference from driving my 2004?
I accually can. Your 04' seemed a little more AP1ish, and like it was in the middle of the three; AP1, AP2, AP2 (06) as far as the evolution, or dilluting the "fun factor" if you will. You should go drive one this weekend, i'd be interested to hear your comparison coming from an early AP2. I'm going back to Immke to take the 06' out again on Saturday. If you want to go with, you're more than welcome.
