I spent the last two Saturday's having fun in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and SC. Both trips were loops of about 175 miles, with lots of twisties, about four ascents/descents of about 3500 feet. Speeds generally below 45 mph, some VTEC, but not all the time. Lots of wide open throttle at 3500-4500 rpm. Two on board.

I filled up at the start, then refilled (and even topped off) at the end. Both times, I calculated about 37.5 mpg. Last weekend I thought this was "too good to be true," then the same thing this weekend. This is great!

What's your expereience?

 

i have a hard time believing this. By no way i'm saying you're a liar but this is physically impossible on the S, especially considering the circumstances given.

Yeah, but it was all downhill.

Just for reference, my daily driving is aobut 25% stop/go and 75% interstate at 65 mph, -- I get about 25 +/- mpg under those circumstances. Otto cycle engines have the highest volumetric efficiency at WOT. Remember the old BMW "eta" engines where they adocated WOT and short-shifitng for better fuel economy.

BTW, I am not asking anyone to believe this, I just asked for actual experience from other people.

 

On my last trip to the Dragon, I traveled a total of 1915 miles from my drive way and back. Used 70.5 gallons of 93 octane for an overall of 27mpg.

There were 1115 mountain driving miles.

The best mpg was on the way back on I-65 at 29.7 with an average speed of about 80mph.

I find it a little hard to swallow your reported 37.5mpg. Maybe its an MY06 thing.

 

I run in the 29's on the interstate with a light foot, in the low 20's in town. You got the new S2000 hybrid, right?

my best recorded mpg to date is 26.8 (50/50 city/hw) or something like that. I was driving extremely conservative and I think i might have vtec'ed once on that tank. Not calling u a liar but i jus cant see you getting into the upper 30's driving at wot and a few vtec's here and there. Are you sure your math is correct hehehe
