Results of 4.77 gears at Moroso
Last year as in my previous post, I noted when my car was stock I was able to get a 2.3 60f time and ended up with a 14.4 in the quarter mile. The temp outside that day was around 52 degrees. I went yesterday to see what my 4.77 gears would be able to do. I was able to do 4 runs. Here is the results for them.

After my first run, I got better times getting used to the track but started to worry a bit with the times. Even though my 60f wasnt good on my first one, I thought with the 4.77 gears it would have been much faster either way. These times are almost exactly what I had last year stock. To compare my time this year to last year. The 60' was almost the same as last year and my time was also similar. I was expecting to atleast drop .5 off my quarter mile time. What could be wrong?? I thought I drove the same when I was out there. But I couldn't even achieve a better time with my car than I did stock. And for the other times. Even last year with a 60' of 2.5-2.6, I stock got a 14.7-14.8. So I was expecting If I got a similar 60' this year, it would drop to around 14.2-14.3 at least with that high 60' since the gears i have now on the car are more aggressive and beneficial from what users posted in the quarter mile. I even though might be the cluch, it has 75k miles on it, but I did the test on a hill to see if its slipping and it wasn't. I feel the car faster but as seen yesterday, it didnt perform as it should from everybody's post. The reason I purchased the gears were to accelerate faster and to try to get my goal of 13.5. But as seen yesterday, it seemed like it didnt have much effect on the car. Any recomendations. Has anyone else experienced these problems.
Im going to get a dyno soon to see if anything is wrong with the car, but if not, my driving skills havent changed. So if everything is the same as last year, I guess gears just make the car feel faster, like a mustang gt with the extra torque at the lower end, but it doesn't produce the numbers as it should.
What do you guys think, if you need any other info about yesterday, please post.

If you are a slow shifter, then the 1/2 second gain the gears gives you will be eaten up by the more than 1/2 second it takes you to make the extra shift to get through the 1/4 mile. Most of the gain of 4.77s happens in the zero to 60 time. An average shift takes between 1/2 to 1 second to complete. Unless you can do a shift in 1/4 second, 4.77s are only good in short street drags.

Yep, watch Wisconsin's video on how to shift quickly. Some people think they are shifting fast, but they're not. It makes a BIG difference when you can use your powerband and bang the shifts quickly at the precise moment. Your 60' should improve too with the gears. Getting off the line should be an exercise in wheelspin control through 1st gear.

Now I'm not sure whether I want to change my final drive anymore. I was thinking about going to 4.57, and was told that I can probably hit low 13's with final drive and good tires.
I hit a 14.2 stock, with a slipping clutch so far.

You shift too slow or your engine has lost power since the last time you went out. I think we know which one it probably is.
Don't worry, fixing slow shifts may be difficult but at least it is free.
I can't tell you how many times frustrated friends let me drive their car at the track after getting poor results. With the exact same 60 ft, I get .2-.3 faster in the 1/4 just due to faster shifting, and these guys are track junkies that go out every month, sometimes 4x a month.
All you can really do is practice and concentrate on shifting slightly faster than before. Usually people have a troublesome shift but don't really realize it. My friend's is 3-4 on his rsx-s. He is disturbed by all the 3-2 shift=blown motors and shifts it wayyyy too slow. A lot of people are not smooth or fast with their 1-2. IMO, my shifts just get faster as my 3-4 takes 1/4 second at most if I'm doing well.
