Custom 10w6v2 subwoofer box in driver corner
Well as some of you may know I have been researching sub boxes for my new 05 Rio s2000 and wanted something that not only hits hard but uses MINIMAL space.
On my old Spa s2k, I had a 12w3 fiberglassed into the tub section that worked fairly well but firing a subwoofer upwards was not optimal for sound. Also I found out from other forum members that the oem "tub" is meant for a full size spare to be stored there if you ever get a flat.
So when I got my new s2k, I decided on using the driver or passenger corner to build an enclosure that fired forward at an angle. This would give the best bass output and also save space.
Looking at my options which were few, I finally decided to custom build my own enclosure. I chose the driver's side to build the box. It uses a 1" wood frame and the rest is fiberglass and bondo. The entire enclosure is bolted to the chassis floor using 2 bolts so it's not going anywhere
We had to angle it to clear the trunk hinges and the entire box was finished in matching textured gray carpet. It clears with no problem and now I have space in my trunk for my bowling bags, my oem spare tire and still enough room for a weekend's worth of bags!
Enjoy,
Rick

Sorry for the large pics - is there any website that allows me to downsize the pics to fit the screen perfectly with those nice edge borders?
The JL Audio subwoofer is a 10w6v2
We tried a 12" but that would NEVER fit without sacrificing more space than what I wanted.
I love the Eclipse doube din unit - it rips music onto the 30gb harddrive, face flips down to reveal a DVD/CD slot and has Ipod interface and a Sony memory stick option!
