Are the bezel and screen mounted straight?
i haven't mounted the screen and bezel properly yet.. still trying to think of the perfect bracket to hold the screen to the bezel.. and contemplating gluing the bezel to the dash.. i dont see any other way really...
splits arent in yet.. have to go buy some mdf and a buy a jigsaw to make the mounts..
and still to go, PC & GameCube in the boot.. just testing out the GameCube's wireless controllers at the moment to see if they will work through the boot..
question: whats the best way to power all my devices eg: lcd screen, pc and nintendo.. i have a 12-240v car inverter.. maybe that will do for the boot devices, but what about the screen? just splice off the head unit?
PCs run on 12 and 5VDC. Not much point in converting 12V to 240AC then using the internal supply to convert to 12 and 5VDC.
Make sure you buy one of the carputer powersupplies that handle start up and shutdown. Remember that when you turn the ignition on the ACC goes live, but when you hit the strat button it loses power as a result of the drain of the starter motor. You need to protect the PC from this.
Is this a matter of personal taste? Or a technical problem?
We were going to go the slimline ps2.. but the gamecube games are much more fun for short periods of time..
--also, how hard is it to remove the dash? i am proabably going to have to glue the bezel to the dash, which means if i want to take the screen out later, i will either have to un-glue the bezel, or take the dash off..
So when they cut the dash they cut the mounting points for the bracket off from either side of the opening?
If the mounting points are still there then I would suggest making up a metal bracket which you can screw the screen to, there is room to get you hand up behind the dash from the passenger side so you can tighten up the screw(s) or nut(s) depending on what is used. This way you can glue the bezel to the screen and then screw the screen to the bracket - this is the way Aus will be doing it.
Does that makes sense? Hard to explain in writing!
