What tires have you been happy with... which ones will you avoid at all costs... why???

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's --- Great summer only tire. Little road noise, great grip and they were very controlable (sp?) when I was sliding around the corners in the autoX. They are also great in the rain; not scary like some others.

Toyo Proxes 4 --- Good all around tire. The grip sucks on them compared to summer only tires but I can use them during the winter. Rain performance was pretty good, snow...well they suck just like summer only's. Unfortunatly, they are wearing as fast as my SO-2s did which I'm not impressed with (note my SO-2s lasted 18k miles almost).

SO-2's --- Great summer only tire. The best tire I have used as far as grip is concerned. They however had snap oversteer compared to the F1s. They suck in all weather conditions and have a very harsh and loud ride.


Overall I agree with car and driver, as far as summer only tires go, the F1s are a really great product and are my favorite tires thus far

Last Friday I got a set of SO-2's.
It is summer here (18-24C) and so far I like them very much.
Much more then the Michelin Pilot Premacy's I had.
The Pilot Sports are not available in 16", thats why I went for Premacy's.
In winter they (Premacy's) did well, no problem.

At 2.2F and 2.3R bar the SO-2's are not uncomfortable IMO.

I'm "looking forward" to driving in the rain with the SO2's.

For 2 days I had Michelin Pilot Exalto's on the car.

The S02 is still the best handling tire for the car in the 16". If you go bigger there are a number of very good tires out there and it would depend on what you are looking for out of the tire as to which would be the best.

I'm still enjoying the RE 050's on my AP2. I'm on my 2nd set and don't see any reason to change yet...trying to stay with OEM sizes.

Has anyone tried Toyo Proxes T1R on the OEM 17" rims? I had them on my IX and they were good. Would love to be able to use Yokohama A046D or the T1R but I have not been able to locate accurate results using the Google workaround for search (T1R shows up tons of exhausts).

Going to the track with my SO2 's . What pressure should i use?

Btw, love the tires on the road! Even in wet at (at high temperatures) i consider them o.k.. I had worse before.

Cold and wet they' re not soo good.

Start with maybe 34-35 cold and let a little out if it gets too high when heated up. (Easier to let air out than put it in. )

You want to focus on the "hot" pressure, so keep your speed up on your "cool down" lap and check the tires immediately when you get into the pits. 38lbs hot is a good target.

The S02 is a good track tire, but you can expect to loose small chunks of the tread if you push them hard enough. Also, after 20-40miles of hard cornering, they can get kinda oily and slippery.

Have fun and be safe. Just keep an eye on the air pressure and the hadnling. You don't want the tires to get too hot.
