Default Can't find a working DIY thread

The ones in the FAQ's don't work. They either say "no input file selected" or all the images are gone. I've spent a couple hours searching for another thread, no luck. I'm esp. interested in finding out how to fabricate the two brackets i am going to need. Thoughts?

I believe that thread and all the pictures were on a very old version of this forum. After several conversions to newer formats, those pics were lost. You might contact "PAs2k" to get him to reload his pics and maybe redo his thread.

Just got this PM from PAs2k:

"Sorry, Bryan- You've got me confused w/someone else....maybe the 'Jerry' in the PacNW forum? I DO have an AP2 FRONT bumper on my AP1 (2003 GPW) which was done by bodyshop as part of accident repairs... Good luck"

Any other ideas?

Hmmm, I could have sworn it was him. Oh, well, can't argue if PA says it's not him. It was a red car and they were "U" shaped brackets (and I see that Jerry's car is white). I know that "AJpwr" only showed pics of the whole car. He never posted pics of the installation.
I can tell you that the installation is pretty straight forward and some guys left out the "U" brackets altogether. I believe there are 2 such brackets as there are 2 mounting points on the inner rear part of the bumper. When you remove the old bumper, you will know which ones those are and when you put the new bumper on, you will easily discover that at those locations, the bumper is about an inch to 1.5" further back from those attachments points. This is the reason why you need those "U" brackets - to make up that space. You can make them up with a sturdy strip of metal that can be bent without cracking. You'll need to make holes and new nuts and bolts for one side. Or, if the bumper is secure enough, you can go without.
I remember that thread fairly well (not perfect as it was a long time ago) as I was considering this mod myself at the time. I elected to do the front bumper conversion instead.
If it's not PA, then I'm at a loss as to who it was. Sorry. I don't believe it was a Jerry from the PACNW group. I know that Jerry, too. (Actually, 2 Jerry's.)

Thanks! You're a great help and an asset to the forum, Xviper....this looks like a perfect opportunity for me to create a DIY on this (my first)...

I'm off to the dealer now to order the part, and then it goes to the paint shop, so hopefully sometime next week i can install it...

I'm sure future readers will appreciate it.

Before you go off and order the part, compare prices with Hardtopguy. He may be able to get it to you cheaper, even with shipping extra.
