Default Powdercoating 101....NEW TOY SEASON

First, I will say, this is the single best tool I have ever bought. Ive been using it all day, and have powdercoated half my life.

Anyway, I purchased a powdercoating kit online for home use, mostly for my car....
They are very simple and inexpensive.....this one here is 100 bucks.
(they are all the same, even the ones they use in industrial applications....its the ovens that matter)

I ordered 4 powders to test out the kit. Lollipop red (a transparent red), Ruby red (95% close to New Formula Red), super-wet black, and Lollipop blue (for my friend's RSX).

First, i wanted to try and get the hang of it....so I started with an old wrench.....This is my first time ever touching a powdercoating gun. I must say, you have to be completely brain dead to mess it up. It's SUPER easy. They only thing you can do to screw it up it accidentally touch the part before you bake it. But unlike wet paint, you can just give it an extra dusting, and all is well. Anyway, the wrench.....(I used Lollipop red for this)

Came out very nice, and you can see the difference that it makes....GLASSY SMOOTH!

Ok, after being confident enough, I decided to do my radiator supports, I always hated the way they looked with my carbon fiber cooling plate....like warts, so now...on to the super-wet black.... (my friend also wanted to coat a part for his wrangler, so dont wonder what part of the s2000 that is from )

Original....

Gotta clean the metal well....

Being Coated.....

2 of my bolts, 4 of my friend's...

Now, into the over.....for 10 minutes......resulting in....

My friend's part.... came out UNBELIEVABLY NICE!
Look at the reflection on that thing....it's like chrome!!

My stuff....

Now lets look how they look mounted.....
Ahh...MUCH better......!

On to the RED!

I just wanted to test it out, so I just did the battery tie down...

Black is soooooo last year....

Resulting in....

Tomorrow...Ill post a lot more pics...I will be doing more parts on my car, as well as my friends old jeep.....so you will REALLY see the benefits of it.

That silver vein is friggen HOT! I might have to go searching the site to see some custom colors . My oven can easily fit the valve cover in it with only the bottom touching so thats not a problem.

How would I strip the red off though?

TO strip, a sander/grinder would be your best bet. Its pretty thin, so it shouldnt be very hard. Just tedious.

Also....check out this hotness..... Glow in the dark additive!!!

Invisible during the day, glows at night!

If you have "low rider" syndrome...you can also add metal flakes...

These come in a few colors as well!
