Here is his initial comment:
The graphs were produced based on gasoline receipts and data from an AP2 in Southern California from October 2004 till July 2006. The hope is that others will be able to take the empirical data and share whether their experiences are in-line or differ from my results. YMMV (literally).

Your friend has too much time on their hands to be tracking gas mileage/expenses so closely; however, since they did...
My 06 S2K has 7600 miles on it, and I aveage about 25.2 mpg during mostly highway driving at about 75mph to/from work.
Back in June I received 30.2 mpg on one tank during an all highway roadtrip to SAC2K Days; my low was 23.0 mpg doing a combination of city/highway driving.
I didn't buy the S2K because of economy, but next to performance it has been a nice bonus.
Actually, I don't know him. He just PMd me out of the blue to ask me to do this for him. I don't know why he picked me, but I thought I'd do it anyway.
As for too much time on his hands, you would be surprised how many people do this sort of thing as a normal course of day to day car ownership.
xviper, thanks for posting up the graphs. Maybe your friend should get together with i_heart_my_DB8 (since they are both in Southern Cal) because i_heart_my_DB8 also seems to be a Statistics Geek regarding his S2k (but he probably picked up that bad habit from someone else).
Yes, too much time on my hands, but I'm a retired engineer with a penchant for detail - what do you expect? AP1 from new, mostly local suburban/freeway driving with a few 400-mile trips and one track day.
