Default Broken Rear axle caused accident

Has anyone else actually had the rear axle break, not while dropping the clutch.

Axle broke and flipped the car around and into a bridge. I survived, but could have ended up in the water if the rail was lower.

I haven't had a look at the car in the day light, but I have talked to Honda about the axle clicking, metallic sounds over about the past 8 months and they have tightened the spindle nut 3 times....and finally I think it gave out and broke.

Suggestions on what to do? I need to get the body damage and axle and who knows what else fixed, but if it is a manufacturing problem, how is the best way to approach honda?

Thanks guys.

paying for all of the repairs if it is a failure....I'm sure they will do the same thing they have been doing all along saying the clinking was just normal.

I'm sure your insurance company will deal with Honda. I'm glad you are ok! That must have come as a bit of a shock.

I'm glad you're ok. What happened? Were you just driving along and the all of the sudden you were out of control?

It sounds like from what you said that the axle actually broke, that's a little different than blaming the wreck in a clicking axle. I don't know the process for doing this, but your insurance company could be a good resource for how to handle this...unless you're trying to avoid letting them know this happened.

Ouch, that hurts. Glad you are alright. Your insurance and Honda should take care of everything. If you can get some pictures it would be nice, especially the axle that broke. Where did it break inside or outside? Did it just twist off?

thanks guys, i don't mind letting the insurance know since they will be more successful dealing with honda....I think the clicking was the precursor to it actually snapping, that's the only reason I included that.

I'm glad to be ok, the ER surgeon said it could be much worse...
