Comptech Flywheel and Lightened Star Clutch Being Installed
Yup! I can't wait to get the car back. They are being installed this week. I get the car back Thursday Eve/Friday AM. Then I get to put a couple hundred break-in miles on it before I hit the track (Laguna) on Saturday and again on Monday w/ S2KCA.
I can't WAIT!
The comptech flywheel looks to be a very nice piece. It's 100% Cromoly and weights 8.4 lbs (confirmed on UPS scale here at work)

The clutch is the Star Stage 3 Clutch and reworked Pressure Plate. Including additional weight savings work that yeilds and additional 2.5lbs off the clutch.

Pictured is cdelena's clutch w/ kevar pads on the clutch disk. Star has since moved to a Carbon Fiber based pads. But I have the same 4 puck stage 3 disk that is pictured. The presure plate yeilds and additional 25% clamping force.
I want to give a big thanks to Randy at Bulletproof for his help and connecting me directly to the owner of Star Clutch so that I could get all my questions answered. One thing is for sure, Star knows clutches.
If you want more information about the star clutch check out bulletproof at http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/catal...star_clutch.asp
So as for weight savings. My research has yeilded that our stock flywheel is nearly 15lbs. So that means I have saved 6.6 lbs in the flywheel and 2.5lbs in the clutch yeilding a 9.1lb reduction in drive train weight.
I can't wait to drive my car again!!!

I have #159 from MY00. I had the rattle from hell.. I just ignored it.
It's my understanding that this clutch is just as loud as the original OEM disk.. Possibly louder. If noise is an issue I would sugest the Stage 1 or Stage 2 star disk.

More grip would be nice. I'm living with the clutch noise now. I'm completely used to it, but my passengers always complain. How much is Menlo charging for the install? Do I need to talk with Chuck if I want special work done?
The install is being done w/ my TSB work.
If you had your clutch disk replaced before 11/27/01, honda has released the 3rd or 4th rev of the clutch which would entitle you to another replacement. On the new copy of the TSB they even say out of warrenty cars may be eligible w/ the district managers aproval.
If you have any questions call Chuck.
Also this is my FIRST clutch replacement. I never had any of the TSBs done to my car up until now.
