Default UMW Community Organizer(s)

As some of you know, I'm leaving the UMW in a couple weeks and heading west. Accordingly, I will no longer act as a CO for the UMW.

Urmil will continue on, and I (and several others) have pegged Pete (ruexp67) to take over for me, and Pete has accepted. However, this is your community and thus you have a say in it. There's no particular guidelines for how many COs a region should have, and in one as big as the UMW, I can see benefits to more. So, here's your chance - let us know what you think. It seems like the Michiganders are finally coming out of the woodwork, so perhaps a MI based CO would help.

Try to not get personal. This isn't a thread for airing out your personal disgruntlements.

I have a few thoughts on this, but then again I've already shared them....and will do so with this board once I get out of this meeting I'm heading to in a moment.

Basically, just reserving this spot for my post/explanation.

Info added 12:40 PM

...damn that was a long meeting!

1. If there's a thought to adding another CO for the purpose of moderating the UMW/WC forum, then the way this summer has gone, I don't think we need one.

2. If there's a thought to adding another CO for actual community organization and leadership, then I firmly think this person should come from another state. Lately the Michigan guys have been quite busy. Getting them more involved with the forum by allowing one of the MI locals to be a CO may make them that much more active. (This is something that I think that we as a regional community dropped the ball on last summer with the WI owners....but that's another discussion).

The Chicago/NW IL crowd is already quite active in posting (on both the UMW and the WC forums) and at organizing gatherings, be it publicized to the boards or to a select few through PM's and otherwise. Adding another CO from IL is not going to change that.

So let me flip it and ask you why there should be another CO from the same state and not another.

Ya gotta have two.

I think that the second one should live somewhere other than right where pete and urmil live, and I only believe that because of the "community organizer" title.

If the title were CO-Sysop, I would say I'm best for the position, but thats just because I'm outwardly subjective and was a sysop on many of the BBS systems you visited when you were younger (and the inet wasnt bumpin yet)

however, I'm a prick, and that doesnt work for these kind of things.

So I vote for pete as long as somewhere in his campaign he agrees to:
"have meets that might be closer to the southerlies from time to time"
"stop that stupid bullshit post waves on WC"

and for anyone that wants to increase thier ppd, I have a great script I can give you.

I don't think there needs to be a heirarchy. Just an understanding.

I read that as which positives outweigh which negatives.
