ACCIDENT - need body shop
Accident today. Well, I guess my number was up - I was going to work at 7 AM on northbound 101 before Balboa blvd , traffic ahead had slowed, so I did too. Came to a complete stop in the fast lane for at least 5 secs with a car a few feet in fromnt and at least 200 yards of clear road behind me, then saw a car coming fast. Immediately thought he didn't yet see me, but would soon. Then thought "Oh crap he's gonna finally see me then skid". I considered moving right but I'm not sure if that was impossible or I just didn't do it. Then thought "Oh crap he actually IS going to hit me , hope it's not hard". Then just "Oh crap!". He skidded about 30 feet and hit me at perhaps 25-30 mph. Both my airbags deployed ( yes wearing seatbelt ). I got a small cut on the head but otherwise OK.
The (75 year old ) guy was nominally OK ( head cuts from no seat belt ); his passenger looked OK but complained of pain.
What was not cool was the '03 S2000. Six payments or so to go.
Well, it did nominally OK structurally, and could [barely ] start & drive across the freeway to the towtruck, but here's the damage:
rear bumper
rear bumper frame supports bent up
trunk
rear right quarter panel
rear light assy
[ T1R sparrow exhaust smashed ]
airbags
front bumper
front right quarter panel & wheelwell
hood
radiator ( & AC )
radiator crossmember ( maybe frame stuff here )
airbox
right light assembly
[ gears replica but nearly OEM looking lip ]
[ rick's H symbol scratched ]
[] = maybe not paid since aftermarket parts
It might even be considered totalled, an adjuster is supposed to look at it. Open to recommendations for body work - right now it is in Northridge. I work in the valley nearby, and live in Marina del Rey, so I could tow it to a Westside location too.
Should it actually be considered totalled, I could buy it back - I'll keep y'all posted. For sure the engine has been well maintained.
I guess I worry about the problems that'll show up later - maybe a bad header gasket from the exhaust wanking, etc. I took the keys from the body shop so the cant start it however.
All in all I didn't get hurt & remember the individuals who have not been so lucky.

sorry to hear that! but You are ok.
as for the car. it was not your fault. take the car to the best body shop that you can find. go to see the doctor. or even find a lawyer. lots of lawyer will do it for you and you don't have to pay anything.

Glad to hear your ok. The car is replaceable (although I know how much it sucks because the same thing happened to me two years ago), your not. Totalling the car will require either bent frame or dollars to repair exceeds actual value.
Good Luck
