Pre-owned NSX versus Cayman S
Like most of us enthusiasts, every two to three years, I think about:
"What do I want to experience next in this short life?"
Absolutely nothing wrong with my S2000, but I have this need for some sort of change.
====
Has anyone thought of or cross-shopped these two cars?
Suggestions for mods to the S2000 that might make it "new again?"
Obligatory Pics...

I believe I'd rather have the Cayman S over the NSX (even if it wasn't preowned), but if it's sports cars in that general price range I may agree with QUIKAG on the Z06 over either. I'd like to drive the Cayman S before I could say for certain though as even though the Z06 without doubt wins the performance categories, quite frankly it's overkill for any realistic street use.
cayman is nothing more than a boxer with a hard top... front end looks sweet , but the back end like wants to be a carrera GT... all in all nsx is sexy and stands out. Porsche is kinda everywhere... depends tho..
I like the NSX a lot, I don't think it's as nice as a Cayman S.
The CS is as quick (stock) but the CS being a much more modern design has many features and a more solid structure to work with, so I would go with the CS over the NSX.
However as I already have a S2000 with a hardtop, the price to upgrade to a CS would be my car plus another $40K. That being the case, all day long I would hold onto my S2000 and spend the surplus for a second car to complement the S2000 such as a Legacy Spec.B or IS350 or 330i (or such).
I am leaning towards a Spec.B and for a price of about $33K (after discount) it's cheaper than would be for me to trade my S2000 in for a Boxster S or Cayman S. My point being I know the CS or BS are a lot better than my S2000 but I don't think they are worth $40K more.

My father has one and I drove it.
Loads of brute force power, but overall not the car for me.

Though downshifting to 2nd gear on the highway at 55mph and absolutely wailing up to 90mph before shifting to 3rd is always good for a laugh in the Z06.
Have you driven either car before? Usually a test drive will make the decision easy. My vote is for the NSX. It truly is a special car--has the exotic looks, handles well, has adequate power, and is very reliable. I've had horrible reliability experiences with German cars in the past, and probably will never own one again. However, this is just my opinion and experience. I love my old '91 NSX and '00 S2000. I'm a Honda-phile for life!
