Default **HELP** No VTEC, running rough, etc...

So I wait for 3 bars today coming home from my mom's house. I get to a nice corner, set up, drop it down in 2nd and floor it...and...NOTHING! Not the jerk you feel when you didn't let it warm up (not that I've ever felt that ), just no VTEC! I drove the car some more to see if it was a warm up issue and got the same. I stopped at a gas station, checked the oil, perfect, clear... Everything looks good. 16,000 miles, why is this happening. I think back to some threads... TPS? Plugs? I get to my driveway and start to tinker. I slowly put on the throttle and at 4K RPM the instrument display brightens for a moment, I do it several times and get the same . At 7,500 RPM the engine starts to cut, and when the R's drop to normal the car almost dies...OMG...WTF??? I'm still tinkering, any ideas...PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Thanks

Andrew

Update, It's probably not the "plug backing out" issue, I just cheked them. I don't have a torque wrench anymore since I got rid of the car I thought I NEEDED to work on, but they felt tight, and there was no soot anywhere. I suppose the TPS is next on the list .

Don't leave me hangin' guys...

The oil level is perfect, I checked that straight away. Something else, about a week ago it snowed 6 inches here on Friday night. I didn't drive my car again until Sunday, but when I did, I had a dead-spot at a certain throttle position. VTEC was fine, so was the running of the car, but at a certain TP the car just lost power. I drove it a while and it went away and hasn't returned since. This today is different, there just isn't any VTEC, there sems to be a wooshing sound at the moment where there should be VTEC, but it could be my imagination. The fact that the car dies after stationary revving is weird, like the return to idle is messed up. The brightening of the display has me stumped too, as well as the cutting out at 7,500 RPM. I'm tripped.

You never know how much difference VTEC makes until it isn't there .

Actually, I haven't. I can't imagine how it would help, and if it does something is still wrong. I drove the car around for about a half hour, it feels anemic. Hesitation on and off at different RPM's. It's drivin' me nuts!!!!!!!

I mean, good idea, I'll try tomorrow, but I HOPE it's something else, something tangible.

Thanks again
