Been having a bit of trouble with my clutch..
Here is the problem:
When you step on the pedal it is very hard and notchy to press it down all the way and when you do release it, it is very notchy and not smooth.

History.
I installed a new clutch and pressure plate (excedy OEM), Worked fine then slowly built up to how it is now...
Installed new Master cylinder... no change
Installed new Slave cylinder... no change
Lubed throw out fork.. no change
Lubed clutch rob.. no change
Lubed clutch pedal and arm.. no change
No squeeks...
I'm starting to think it could be the pressure plate?
Can a pressure plate fail? could this be the problem?

happen to me the same..

i thought i could get it fix by Lubed throw out fork.. but no change...

how about if you go over vtec and then clutch in? the clutch seem to alot losser when you drive it hard....

i need to know a solution too..

YES! actully i noticed that tooo..

Worse comes to worse i will pull out the pressure plate and inspect it or put the old one back in.. its a joke to drive it atm, makes the car feel like s#$t

before this happen, i had a long drive to seattle on a very very rainy day for 3 hours long..

then all of the sudden when i am in vancouver.. my clutch feel soooo stiff and feeel soo wierd..

but whenever i hit vtec... the clutch will become soo loose..

please let me know!

What parts move when pressing the clutch pedal?
The friction disk doesn't really move IMO, but the service manual states to put grease on the splines.
Did you do that?
The counter plate in the pressure plate doesn't move that much either... does it?
Its not attached to the springs, is it?
IOW the springs just provide pressure, they don't move things around.

Just asking / thinking out loud.

If the splines weren't adequately lubed when you replaced your clutch, they could have dried up, causing the symptoms you describe. To lube the splines, you're going to need to drop the tranny anyway.

If the splines are dry, the throwout bearing will not smoothly travel in and out. Lubing the throwout fork won't fix this problem.

When you mean lubing up the splines... do you mean the parts that contact the throw-out bearing or where the splines get attached to the pressure plate?

im thinking just the throw out bearing...
wonder if you can somehow lube it through the opening where the fork is...
