Thumbs up Guidelines for Group Drives

I've taken the posts from a few threads to have this debate. No flame wars, but do we need to have rules of engagement?

The problem with rules is they never cover all situations. Perhaps guidelines would be a better idea...

Before any group drive occurs, we, as a group, need to set up some guidelines for proper behavior during the drive, and the consequences if you fail to follow those guidelines.

Simply put, if the guidelines say NO PASSING, and you pass someone, you will be asked to leave. You have got to stay in your own lane, and not cross the double yellow--hell, any yellow line whatsoever--you fail to do that repeatly, you will be asked to leave. People need to leave a safe distance between the car in front of them ( and 1 car length at 75mph is not safe). If you as a driver feel that you are uncomfortable driving in the group (too fast, too many sharp turns etc) pull over and let others go by, and rejoin at your own pace.

This isn't a focking race.

You want to thrash your car, go to GIR.

As far as non-S2000's joining our group drives, that should be left up to the person(s) planning the event-and if they don't feel comfortable about that-you (non-S2000) should not attend.

I don't want to lose any of us if we can do everything in our power to prevent it.

Here are some groundrules that I put together for my last Dragon Run:

Not fullproof either. We lost two cars, but everyone was fine.

Rule: No crossing/drifting over the double yellow (or any other line-especially on a two lane road)

[QUOTE=PrimoGen,Dec 4 2006, 09:17 PM] After many conversations with many people I have come to the following conclusions. These are my opinions and mine alone.

Rule: Lead car sets the pace. You, however, are not required to maintain his/her pace. If you fell uncomfortable, pull over (when it is safe to do so) and let the others go past you.

Do not feel that you are "less of a driver" if you cannot keep up with a faster/more experienced driver.

Do not engage in any risky maneuvers that will potentially endanger other drivers.

Judgment call.

OK, again the Rules for the Dragon, don't exactly apply to our group drives.
1. our drives aren't always on two lane, double yellow line roads
2. the no passing thing is a good guideline, but shouldn't be a rule.
perhaps the car in front of you decides not to keep pace with the rest of the pack? you and ever one behind is stuck. So should we have another rule for those of us who don't want to go fast to pull over and let others past?
3. "Don't freak out" are you kidding? that's half the fun!
