Default Diminution of Value Claims near Seattle

Hey all... anyone know someone who can do a diminution of value claim on my Honda near Seattle?

Some girls T boned me about 2 years ago, and I want to file a claim against their insurance for the loss in resale value of my car.

Thanks for any advice or tips!

I'm particularly interested in hearing about other people's experience in these types of claims.

Brian

i got rear-ended in july 2k5; i pulled over on the shoulder and the guy still hit me.

"I THINK" that if your car comes up on carfax that it was hit, damaged, whatever; when you trade it in, you can lose trade-in value on the car. but alot of dealers don't look at that.

i've been trying to get an appraisal from a dealer in writing and showing it to the insurance company and the attorney. but some car dealers don't wanna' get involved in that. can't blame'em

so to sum this up, it's new to me, and i'm still working on my claim

You need to hire a auto appraiser. I used - John Kinck - cell 360.731,4987 or 360.895.1766

This guy is good, he got me way more for my crashed car from the insurance co than they originally offered.

So is it too late once the car is fixed? Is this something that an auto appraiser should have looked at just after the accident or can he decide what a vehicle is worth after it has been in an accident and has been fixed?

I've worked in and managed a body shop for a while now. Diminished value claims are usually done at the time of the accident however you have 3 years to file suit on a claim. You can try going through your own insurance but you'll have better luck with an independent appraiser as suggested. What was the extent of the damage? You usually don't have much of claim unless your car required being racked and pulled for structural alignment.

The total damage was around 10k. I'll have to check the paperwork to see if it was racked or pulled straight. I don't think that it was.

If you want to use MS Office's OCR and scan it into word format I'll be happy to look it over and let you know what you're working with. Look for the words "setup and measure" which is an almost guaranteed diminished value claim. Even if the car didn't have any pulls, it's an indication of the shop, adjuster, or technician suspecting frame damage at one point. That alone will diminish the value because to "joe buyer" the vehicle has taken a significant amount of damage (whether it actually has or not is a totally different story). If there's anything I can do to help just give me a call at the shop, 360-403-1683.

HeyDanNiceShot - I looked at the repair report and I have 2 hrs labor for "set up and measure" and 3 hrs labor for "square rear unibody". Would this indicate substantial damage? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
