I sent off a depost today for this one:

Hopefully the wife and I will make it down for a meet and greet next month because I've got a lot questions about outfitting this baby for track use.

Make sure they did the spark plug recall. Also, I can't remember if 01s are subject to the "pink taillight" problem, but look into that.

It'll be undergoing a "update" shortly after it arrives, starting with headlamps, bumpers, etc. I'll ask about the spark plug recall. I've heard of a wind noise issue with the older models and something about replacing the hooks for the top solves it. Any info?

Also, if anyone for some reason or another needed anything, I work for a shop called JMI Motoring. We're a small body / fabrication shop up in Arlington but we've had cars featured in just about every car magazine in the US. We specialize in custom work, but we do some minor crash repair on the side. Anyway, if anyone needs any body or paint work give us a call @ 360-403-1683 and let me know you're from the forum and I'll hook you up.

Here's an article about us on tunerzine with some pics of our work:

We've had a few TV spots and have done quite a few race aircraft as well. Anyway, swing by the shop sometime or give us a call.

Not the hooks, it is the striker plates they attach to. 00-01 cars had softer strikers, which wore down.

If you want to outfit it for track use, you might want to hold off on all those cosmetic mods you are talking about. But it's your budget to work with.

They updated the latches? Mine are beat to shit! I didn't figure I could do anything about it.

/me does some investigating...

To the OP, that seems a pretty nice car! Nice catch. `

Search on "hardtop strikers". When you buy a hardtop, they include the 02+ striker plates, so they have become known as hardtop strikers. But in fact, all the new cars have them whether they have hardtops or not.

I have a couple that came with my hardtop but I never installed. I'll sell them for $50. Brand new.

Never would have thought to search that, I would figure "Hardtop strikers" were the side latches.

Good lookin' out. Thanks man.

Hardtopguy has 'em for 48.... but of course there's shipping on that. If you still have 'em after Christmas, i'll take 'em off your hands.

I fully expect to have them after Christmas unless somebody else reading this thread decides they want them.
