Default '04 slides under hard acceleration shifts

I have noticed lately that my '04 will tend to slide, almost start to fishtale, under hard acceleration shifts. This happens on straight dry roads. Then the limitted slip seems to catch up and it straightens out on it's own. I never noticed this previously. I don't think there's anything wrong with the clutch. Has anyone experienced this? Could it be the clutch delay device going bad or the limitted slip itself?

Thanks,

Ken

perhaps your tires are worn.

Check your tire pressure. This is a common problem if the pressures are off from side to side.

My tires are not worn, they are not low on pressure, and I need to be able to accelerate quickly to merge with traffic. I know how to shift. This is a new issue for the car. I'm writing to ask if anyone else has experienced this problem. I think the delay in the clutch may be wearing out or something in the limitted slip itself.

well its not a worn clutch if the problem is that you keep breaking the rear end loose...........

Yeah you know, sometimes my car gets pissy and just decides to loose traction when it feels like it

On a more serious note, its probably one of these things. Tire pressure, tire wear, shifting technique, road condition, weather (more specifically temperature), tire type (are you driving Summer Only tires in sub 40F weather?).

It is not that your tires are low, it is that each one has a differant pressure. Trust me, and check them. Even a 1/2 pound will cause this. Many have reported this and many have confirmed that tire pressure was the root casue. The low side tends to be the one on the side the rear wants to step out on.

There has never been a reported problem with the LSD. Ever.
The clucth delay valve can not cause one side to drive more then the other. It supply power to the LSD.

Check your tire pressure. No joke!

Also... it is december, and the air is getting colder.

Did you by any chance start to see these effects around the same time the air got cooler?

If you still have your summer tires on and the air just got colder where you live, you simply might be losing traction below 8c. Simply put your tires' compound is hardening in the cold.

Might want to get a set of winter tires if this is the case.
