OK...the work is scheduled to start the week of March 12th and last about six weeks. Here are a few pics of the existing kitchen. I will be posting pics as this project goes along. It should be an adventure!

 

I have that exact same dishwaster, only it died a while back. I'm waiting for my new kitchen before I replace it so I'll be watching this with great interest.

 

Here is a pic of the plan and samples of the new stuff I picked out. It will be a European kitchen. Antique white Poggen Pohl cabinets, stainless appliances. The granite pic is the slab I bought for the countertops. Ceramic tile floor stays. The washer dryer area above will be opened up. Washer dryer will be side by side. New cabinets above. The wall to the right of the washer dryer will have cabinets below and glass shelves above. Both areas will be covered by new granite countertops. Existing countertops on the opposite walls will be replaced with granite. The dishwasher will be moved to the left of the cooktop. The double ovens will be moved to where the dishwasher is now - between the refrigerator and sink. Oven below, microwave above. A stainless hood will replace the existing builtin microwave above the cooktop. Appliances will be builtin - i.e. the refrigerator will be flush with the cabinets, etc.

 

Oh, we're talkin' high tech here, ba-by!

 

Yep...traditional exterior, high tech interior! This is a 20-year-old kitchen. Definitely needs an update! I plan to be in this condo for at least another 10 years, so the investment will be worth it.

 

It's been about a year since our kitchen reno "adventure" I'll be watching yours with interest Deb.

I don't like things in my house to be disorganized. Something tells me that you don't either, Deb. Turning my living room into the dining/room kitchen wasn't as bad as I thought it would be as we worked out a system, but we were glad when it was over.

 

^ That will be a challenge. The place is going to be a mess and I just need to get used to that idea. Dining room table will be the kitchen. I don't want anything on my living room carpet, so that means putting everything on the balcony, except for the cabinets, which will be in their boxes on an area rug in the living room while awaiting installation.

 

^We had the luxury of a large basement. All the pots and pans and dishes except for just a few were boxed and out of site. I did have a refrigerator in my living room. They put it on plywood to be sure not to mess up my light colored carpet or the hard wood floor. They didn't deliver the cabinets until it was close to install, so my mess was minimal.

 

That's what you think now.

 

...You know something I don't? Lainey - we bought a portable refrigertor which will be on the balcony. I decided I wasn't going to have that big one in my living room.
