Wonderful Hill Country drive
I'll let somebody with better wordsmithing skills give more detail about the event today, but I just wanted to mention Colleen and I had a wonderful time meeting everybody and on the drive itself. Mmmm... I love the exhaust smell of an S2000 in front of me at full throttle.
I think I put over 500 miles on the car today.

Wished I was able to go on the Hill Country drive... It was great meeting everyone and I hope to get together for another meet soon.
I wrote a brief article of the meet at http://s2000.vtec.net/events/texas/dec00/
If someone would write about the Hill Country drive portion or add their perspective, I would gladly add it to the article so that other S2000 owners can see what happens at these meets.

I also enjoyed getting together with everyone yesterday. Although I couldn't make the Hill Country drive, meeting everyone for
lunch & the photo session was a lot of fun.
What a great turnout too (12 S2000s & 16 people) for a "potentially cancelled due to inclement weather" event!
Thanks also to the Dallas diehards who made the 2+ hour trip to Austin to meet up with us, and Sondra coming all the way from Florida!
Looking forward to the next event!

I did go on the drive and had a GREAT time. I was pleasantly surprised that no one really hot- dogged or was "dangerous". I go to these things to drive my wonderful car & be with/talk to others who also have wonderful cars, not worry someone will crash & kill themself or me. It was fun and after I recover from this drive, I'm ready for another.(the drive back to Fort Worth was a b*%$@h cause I was pooped)
I enjoyed the lunch gathering and the drive. I took part in only the first half to Wimberly and it was great. Nothing like being in a single line of S2Ks, Yes, it was my first S2K drive and look forward to more soon. I am now thinking about making the North Carolina event in April too.

After the drive, we saw another S2K and ran them down to talk. They were excited to see another S2000 and are interested in being involved in future events!
Then this morning, after brunch, we ran into another one, also with temp tags and also interested in being involved in future events.
This place is a veritable hotbed of S2000s! Makes me want to just stay here!

Thanks to all who came out for lunch, the photo session and the drive. Although time limited us on where we could drive, not to mention an extremely slow SUV which wound up leading the pack for quite a while, and a couple of navigation errors, I had fun meeting everyone. In the future, we will find more challenging routes. I appreciate and agree with Molly's comment though, and that is that these rides should be for fun, and not hot-rodding, especially when you have 12 cars (or more next time)trying to ride together. We will set up an autocross or other activity that will be safe for us and the public to satisfy our need for speed. Thanks again to all, and please e-mail me with suggestions for our next outing.

If S2000 owners want to try an autocross or even to just attend, please contact me or post here. I autocross with the Texas Spokes Club in Austin. We are a very friendly bunch and would love to have an S2000 gathering during one of the autocrosses. I've had Honda/Acura meets during an autocross in the past and I know the club will make every effort to make us feel welcomed.
For those who don't know, an autocross is an event to develop driver control of their car by driving through a course laid out with traffic cones. It's a safe environment in which to learn your car's handling traits and limits.
We have a few SCCA national champions in our club and other incredible drivers who would be happy to give driving advice for those who want it. Our next event is scheduled for February 4th, 2001 at Retama Park (just north of San Antonio). I hope to see other S2000 owners there.
