Default Secondary Airpump

I was wondering, if anyone ever tried to patch their air pump. It appears that the housing actually melts and this is what throws the incorrect flow code. Half the air is sent blowing into the atmosphere. Patching the housing should fix this. However, I was wondering if anyone tried taking it apart to patch the housing from the inside. I think that a layer of fiberglass should do the trick because it is much more heat resistant. However, since I havent dismantled it yet i do not know if there is ample clearance with the turbine and the housing to put a thin layer of fiber glass or not.

Any help is appreciated, else I will have to proceed myself, and I will post up my results. I do not know about anyone else, but I dont care to give honda 600 bucks for an essentially "Useless" piece that they know over heats and breaks.

If I may add to that.

Is this a recall? What years are affected by this issue? Is there a way to stop this from happening?

It is an up to 03 problem I believe. There was a TSB issued, however no recall. The part is roughly in the $600 from honda...so I wanted to try to fix it

The airpump is there to inject additional air into the exhaust stream at cold start to get the catalytic convertor up the temperture as fast as possible.
