Default spin video

I have the video of a couple of laps and then the spin from Wed. Note, I have a lot to learn about making and posting videos -- this video is only four minutes long and has a lot of compression artifacts, but it's still 51.4M. It was originally recorded with a very high bitrate. (I have a much better MPEG4 version of these same laps, but it's over 140M and I didn't have room on my web account to post it anyway.)

The sound is really lousy, because I'm picking up so much wind noise. You can see some of my jury-rigged camera mount in the video (reflected in the window). It's a lot better than what I shot at Bremerton, in terms of camera vibration, but I also still have a ways to go with this.

Anyway, here it is, in WMV format.

I had an instructor. You hear us talking, but not well (we were on helmet intercom). As we are departing the track, you hear him calling out "brakes brakes brakes!" I did have the brakes on....

I will point out that I didn't stall the engine. "Both feets in!"

One thing noticeable from the video is that your spin began right as you went over some bumps mid-turn. Did the car feel nervous on other bumpy sections of the track? Have you considered backing off your compression damping, perhaps even in mid-session so that you can feel the difference it makes?

What wasn't obvious was that the rotation started intentionally, with some throttle input at the request of my instructor. Neither one of us expected it to keep going the way it did.

The car actually feels fine over bumps.

"with some throttle input " what does that mean, you mean by applying more throttle to induce the rotation????

or backing off a little??

were you contersteering much as soon as the rear slide?? (can't tell from your camera) Besides my tire's theory on the other thread... I would think that the spin is possibly resulted from psychologically factor, which, you were telling yourself to "rotate" the car... thus as soon as the rear slide, your hands didn't do the recovery as soon as it should be.... We were talking about your hands being fractions of second lag of the correct timing to catch the drift.

We certainly experienced same type of reaction as we first learning heel and toe, doing donuts, or even catching a slide in wet...

besides, why are you guys trying to rotate the car at the exit of T2?? It doesn't seem your line is off, and it seems to me that, if you experience some understeer on the exit of T2, is due to the fact that you were entering T2 using the tighter race line... Just my observation.

Yes.

He was trying to show me that I could accelerate earlier by getting on the trottle there before the apex, to rotate the car a little. Basically, he was trying to get me to get into some higher slip angles. But....

Yes, I may have pinched it off just a tad. I'm not sure.
