Default MY04 Tyres - I'm confused!

I'm sorry to post yet another tyre thread, but I've got myself completely confused on what are the correct tyres for a MY04.

The FAQ states:

The MY04 runs on Bridestone RE050s which are supposed to give improved wet weather performance.

On the front E050MZ 215/45/R17 87W
On the Rear E050MZ 245/40/R17 91W

I've checked my car and I think I'm running these on the rear, although I don't see the "MZ" designation.

However, the front have the above spec but are labelled RE010 ???

The Bridgestone site (www.bridgestone.co.uk) tyre selector craps out when you select Honda/S2000, and the RE010 is listed there as a "summer" tyre.

Is the MZ designation significant and should I really have a mix of RE050 and RE010.

Unfortunately I work in Bracknell, should I just pop down to Bracknell Tyres to see what they say, although this is all slightly academic as I don't need a new set just set, but best to "be prepared" for when I do need to so I know exactly what to spec.

Don't know what the RE010's are, but the RE050s don't specify the MZ on the tyrewall, but I think it denotes a specific tread pattern.

The MZ designation is significant as it denotes the S2000-specific variant of the RE-050.

There are a number of different types of RE-050 - some marque-specific, some for general use.

Does that actually appear on the tyre (i.e. how do you know you have MZ's?)
Anyone got a pic?

I'm starting to think I've got a dogs breakfast on the car currently

TBH, I can't remember conclusively (having flogged my 04 last August) but I'm reasonably sure it was on there somewhere as I recall checking to ensure they'd put the right ones on last time Event Mobile came to put new rears on for me.

The RE-010s are just plain wrong. Whatever they are, they're not the OEM fitment Bridgestones. That's not necessarily a problem - they may be OK - but I'd always have the nagging worry at the back of my mind that they're a bit of an unknown quantity, especially if they are summer-only tyres as you seem to think.

I don't remember my rears stating MZ on the tyre wall, but I'll check when I go out a bit later

Maybe I'm thinking of fronts then Or just plain wrong!

Post up a picture of the tread pattern from behind, jg - that may help someone determine whether they're the right ones or not.

I had new fronts fitted last week and they should state E050MZ on the sidewall. I checked after fitting....not that I don't trust my local tyre fitters...

MZ does appear on the sidewall, front and rear, if you have the correct tyre but not necessarily in the size description.

Have a look at Bridgestone US site for info on RE-010 http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tireselecto...searchbyproduct

Shame it is not the RE-01R as that is a highly regarded tyre.

No, it's me that's wrong - just been out to the garage and had a quick look - the rears do indeed say E050MZ on them - not sure where the R went though
