Only S2K forum member from South Africa?
Hi all .... after about 6 months of procrastination, I bought my 2006 S2000 a few weeks ago. It is GP-white, black interior, 9,000 km (that's about 5,500 miles for the metric-challenged ..) on the odo, and in like-new condition.
I have a hunch I'm a tad older than most of you here ... at 56! I missed my mid-life crisis, so I'm having it now!
Here in SA, all the S2000's have the 2 Lt engine, unlike the 2.2 Lt the USA has. Why? Buggered if I know, but I guess it has something to do with the limited market in Darkest Africa, although I think the European models are also 'only' 2000 cc-engined.
I recently sold my last motorbike (2005 Honda VTR SP2) after owning bikes since I was in my teens, up in what is now Zambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia).
Prior to the Honda I owned 4 BMW bikes, that last one being a K1200RS. It's unlikely I'll own a m/bike again, and the S2K is the closest I can get (on 4 wheels) to fast bike riding.
Looking forward to gaining more knowledge of the S2K 0n this forum. I'll post a photo as soon as I figure out how to do that on this forum!

Welcome
You'll find a few other grey hairs here who picked the S instead of a mistress. It was cheaper
.... I've had both! Thanks for the welcome guys ... I'll upload a couple of images to a "flickr" type photo host put a link here.
The infrastructure here in Darkest Africa is not the best (read: potholes in roads ..
) so I need to be careful with the low profile tyres (tires )
on the S.The one thing that does work well in South Africa is the speed cops .... speed trapping here is a revenue stream, not a road-safety issue.
It's hell in Africa - but someones gotta live here!
Thanks to all for the welcome ... there are absolutely zero after-market goodies for the S2K available in SA .. if I wanted anything I would have to import myself.
I don't know the new vehicle sales figures for the S2K here in South Africa, but I would think Honda sell well under 1,000 units per year.
A new one has a recommended retail price of ZAR365,000 (about US$ 52,000 !). A decent wage here would be ZAR 200,000 per annum upwards. So you see that a new S2K could cost almost 2-years gross earnings!
Low demand = non availability of after-market accessories. Sucks!

...Looks very nice but I would paint the wheels to match.
The wheels or the tyres
?White-walled tyres went out of fashion here when I was a young man
...they are only used by our version of the hoodlums and gangsters, i.e. our taxi drivers
