Leave that tranny bolt out...
I've told people this over the year in person and on the site, but I figure I'd start a new thread on the subject.
I for over 5 years have run 1 bolt short on my tranny. On both my race car -and- street car. Its the PITA bolt that is 1 of the 2 that hold the starter in. If you've ever removed your own tranny you know the one I'm talking about. I don't run it. At all and haven't for over 5 years. I enjoy watching the engineer/anal types tho insist if it was there to begin with it has to be there again. But... In this case it doesn't.
Do with this information as you will. But if you remove your tranny more than once for any reason, you'll appreciate the time, pain and angst it saves you.
Caveot Emptor, I make no claim to be an engineer. I'm just a programmer dammit.

To me there is sometimes a reason that things are there and sometimes not. I for one installed my new bumper with 4 bolts up top and use the inner fenders to hold it in place. The inner fenders are also not clipped into the fenders just the car itself.
my TB is short a bolt (bottom left) talk about a PITA, I will probably fix when i install my CAI this week but that has caused no problems.
My rear bumper is severly damaged on currently held on by the 2 outside most screws believe they are 8 MM.
Most of the time I think we could stand to lose a bolt here and there

I took this bolt out last night (in the middle of a clutch job).
It was definitely tricky, but I followed the instructions for the clutch job from this site and used a
huge breaker bar + 20" extension (best tool ever) + wobble extension + 6" extension + the 14 mm socket,
I taped it all together, and fed that huge contraption between the throttle body, went under the car and put the socket over the bolt and had an assistant turn the breaker bar.
It certainly was not easy, but if you have the right combination of extensions + wobble sockets its definitely do-able
