Default Best CA Insurance Rates?

I spent a lot of time trying to find a reasonable insurance rate for my car in CA. I used to have Mercury, but I have saved a lot by moving to Wawanesa. I had never heard of them and I was skeptical at first, but after everyone in my office (including the partners with $100k + cars) raved about them, I figured it was legit. I have been with them over a year and have been totally satisfied.

Does anyone else here have Wawanesa? I'd love to hear about other user's experiences.

If not, I highly recommend them:

If you have a better rate, can you please post what insurance company offers it? I am satisfied with Wawanesa, but I wouldn't hesitate to go with another legit company at a better price.

It would be great to hear other people's experiences/results with CA auto insurance shopping.

Thanks and good luck.

WAWANESA Rocks. I just moved up to NorCal and switched to Wawanesa. My insurance dropped from $1600 to $1000 for the year. I hear good things about their service, although I've never had to make a claim(knock knock). You need a perfect driving record and no accidents(regardless of fault for the last three years) to qualify.

By the way, the $1000 is for a year and it is for the highest coverage available(i.e. 100/300k)

I HATE allstate. I was in a bad car accident 3 1/2 years ago. I was a passenger, some lady hit us in her ford explorer going 40 and we were at a complete stop. I had 2 broken ribs, a bad concussion, and a neck injury which took me almost 2 years to recover from. Allstate made my life a living hell during this period. I didn't have the best of lawyers, but all I was asking for was my medical bills (4k) plus pain and suffering (4k) a total of 8,000 dollars. Considering I've heard of people getting 70,000 for lesser injuries, I just wanted it to all be over with, but they kept me in and out of court for 2 1/2 years. They filed counter-suits against the driver of the car I was in, saying the seatbelts were faulty (they weren't, and they never inspected the car. they just did this to get my friend angry at me). This company has earned my undying hatred for the way they treat people, and the lowest possible morals.

/rant off.

In my experiences, Allstate is pretty expensive.

Other good companies include Mercury and 20th Century.

Here's Mercury:

and Here's 20th Century:

Good Luck. Let us know who gives you the best rate.

For all of the effort we all go through trying to save the last dollar on our initial car purchase, many of us give it all back and then some on car insurance. I was a victim of this for many years...

AAA has been good to me and my family ... and I sure have gotten my money's worth out of filing claims with them.

21st Century would have cost $1600 for the same coverage in Menlo Park (however if I was still living in West LA(90034) it would have been $2600). I believe the rates are guaranteed for a year, then they can raise them or drop you(Wawanesa). Not totally sure though and not sure about other companies.

I've got Progressive. The rates aren't bad, about $1100 for the whole year with high coverages, rental car and $100 comp coverage.

They've definitely been excellent with their payments. They come on sight and give you a check right then and there... I've tested this numerous times...
